Default Oil pressure guage question

I installed my oil pressure guage in my car, and when I turn my car off and my turbo timer kicks in, everything stays running, but the oil pressure guage goes to 0. Am I really getting no oil pressure when the key has been turned off or is it just the guage being stupid?

Is it a mechanical or electrical oil pressure gauge? If its mechanical, they don't lie. If its electrical you probably have the power going to it from a source that turns off with the ignition.

Its electrical...I'm pretty sure its just turning off. It doesnt sit on the 0 like it does when I turn the key to Ign before I start it. It sits kinda below it so i'm sure its just the power going off on it.

My gauges (oil pres., air-fuel,water temp) all turn off when the turbo timer kicks in.

You only get oil pressure when the engine is running.

if it's an electronic gauge it will turn off when the ignition is turned off. if it's mechanical it will cease to read pressure when the engine is turned off. very simple.

is engine is running, via the turbo timer.

My bad, I didn't read it completely. Seems like the gauge should display oil pressure when the timer is on, unless your wire hook up is on the wrong wire.

When you intslled your guages, you wired them to an ignition + 12 wire which gives you power when the ignition is on. The turbo timer is a hack which keeps the car running even after your ignition is off. So when you pull the key out, you lose power from your electric guages, and thus they dont work.
