Default oil pressure gauge install question

I bought an autometer oil pressure gauge. Its electrical. My question is, do I put the autometer sending unit where the factory unit is? Or do I keep the factory one there and plugged in and run the autometer off my sandwhich plate?

Also, The autometer unit is kind of big. Will it break off the fitting? I dont wanna mount it somewhere else cuz I dont want to have to buy more parts....im broke. But if its going to break, im just saving my self the headache now.

Im looking to do this on Sunday so please give me a good answer soon. Thank you for your help.

when i ran the last oil press. gauge i put a t shaped fitting in the spot for the factory one and ran a line to the press gauge off one side and the factory one on the other side that away if the gauge fails for some reason you still have the factory one. you can get the t shaped fitting at like lowes or home depot in the plumbing section. it will have one male side and 2 female sides.

We try to use an Oil Sandwich Plate when running oil pressure lines. We have our own unit that sells for $35 and it has 3 1/8" NPT ports for doing turbo feed, oil pressure gauges, or VTEC feed lines. A 8"-12" section of stainless braided line and a few fittings can get the large sending unit away from the block so that you can mount it solid to the firewall or design a bracket to hold it. That way the vibrations from the engine will not cause you any issues.

Use a T and never hang that monster direct off the factory oil thread as it will break off eventually
