Oil pressure drops after good ride
i have a turbod gsr.. i blew the oil pump few weeks back. car sounds like its fine its not loud at all.. the gauge will say 0 when ildeing then will reach25-40 psi when reving up..maybe a gauge sensor or a blown pump??

Re: Oil pressure drops after good ride (TurbodTegSfaria)
honestly if it didnt do it before and you lost oil pressure and the engine stayed running you most likely damaged the lower end bearings now there is too much oil clearence to maintain pressure at idle.

i would first try switchin to a mechanical gauge to make sure its not he gauge itself, you can get one cheap at advance auto, just use it once, you dont want a mechanical oil pressure gauge permenantly in the cabin.
If that reading matches your current gauge then agrn93ls is prolly right- your bearings are are damaged.
for reference i see 90psi cold start, 80psi WOT and 32psi idle...

Re: (turbotime)
32 psi idle is ALOT
I personally get about 50-60 on a cold start, when warm driving Im about 20-45 depending on throttle
But after a good highway run or atleast a long period of 10+ minutes of driving consistently and I come to a stop I will get 5-10, a few times having the oil light come on actually
I just switched to a thicker oil, SAE 30 and I get 10-15 on a HOT idle

well when i turn my car on IGN my oil psi read 10psi so i think the gauge is off by about 10psi lol. so i may be at 22psi idle.

I heard from earl [dont quote me]! You should see 50-70psi cruisin oh and its not throttle-dependent its rpm dependent. I think the max on our engines is seen at 4k rpms
oil light should NEVER come on!

you shouldnt be using sae 30 oil....
after doing 5 or 6 5th gear pulls to redline 8200rpm. my oil pressure at idle is still at 20-30psi. so you have something wrong/
cruising oil pressure should be 50-70 as turbotime said.

Re: (komat)
Those numbers seem disgustingly high to me
Ive never had a car with that high of oil pressure
Maybe its just becuase I run a non-vtec sohc and the pressure isnt necessary for VTEC etc
But Ive run about 6 motors now, and theyve all run like this

nothing wrong with high oil pressue as long as it doesnt blow seals out

Re: (Got_soy)
Check this out... now when my oil pressure driops it seems to burn oil out the tail pipe.. now you all can laugh. but i do run an xs turbo , im thinking that the thing is just pushing too much oil thur the turbo causeing oil pressure to drop... im gunna try pinching the line to the turbo see if theres any difference.. the car does have a brand new set of bearings pistons and rods...thanks for the replies!
