Oil Pan compatibility issue b16/b18b
I search and got info that a b16 oil pan will fit a b18b, but the b16 oil pan that I bought doesn't fit. The deepness of the b16 oil pan is shorter than the b18b oil pan.
When I install the oil pan, the oil pickup gets in the way of the b16oil pan.
so my question is....Have anyone use a b16 oil pan into a b18b? Or can anyone give me suggestion? Thank You.
p.s. the guy who I bought it from told me that it would fit just fine.

yeah I think so too, because the pan doesn't just fit. But when I search, alot of ppls say b16 and b18 are the same part number and interchangeable. But I just don't see tha b16 pan fitting.
I just wanted to see if anyone in h-t have installed a b16 on to b18 pan???
Thanks for the info

no, No girdle or nothing. STOCK motor. Installed drag3 turbo kit. Didn't feel like wasting time welding and stuff so I just went ahead and bought a b16 oil pan already tapped for turbo
BTW.... do you have a b16 and b18 oil pan right in front of you ?

I talk to someone on this board and he had the same problem too. When he told me it was already too late because I paypal the guy already, the guy who I bought it from told me that it would fit w/o any problems. So I took his word of advice.

Re: Oil Pan compatibility issue b16/b18b (ON POINT. EK FOR SALE)
thanks for the offer.. but I already have one. I though the b16 oil pan would fit. I do have an extra -10 bung to get it welded on my oil pan.
was just wondering why everyone says it will fit, when mines doesn't.

The B16A and the B18A pans are the same,( they don't have a crank brace) The B18C1 and the B18C5 pans are different, the have an extra bulge in the shallow end of the pan to clear the Crank brace. If you don't the crank brace, they will all fit. There you go !

Re: Oil Pan compatibility issue b16/b18b (CRVRX)
are you refering to the b18b or b18a ? Becuase I have a b18b and I bought a b16a oil pan thinking it will fit, But it doesn't. Size for b16a is smaller in size compared to the b18b I got. Unless that guy sold me wrong oil pan but I doubt it. I have to talk to him.
