Re: Oil Leak in the small air filter
Smoke coming from your valve cover means combustion gases are entering your oil system. That typically means you toasted a piston, cracked your ringlands - something catastrophic happened in your engine.
Coupled with you blowing white smoke out of the exhaust, probably burning coolant or oil depending on the smell, it is definitely time to rip it apart.
Go ahead and perform a compression/leak down test before, but you'll only verify what most of us who have been through this before already know.

Re: Oil Leak in the small air filter
same thing happened to me four years ago only I had misfires and low compression on one cylinder. Ringlands were toasted on #1, but the other three had busted ringlands too, just not as severe.
But it may just be a busted HG, but since you are having a lot of crankcase pressure it means the combustion gasses are getting my the piston somehow.
Go for the rebuild w/ forged internals and you'll be happy.
