oil leak: oil sammish adapter...
i have a mf factory oil filter sangwich () adapter, and it's been leakey since day one. i have my oil feed line going to the turbo from it, aswell as a oil temp gague, and my oil pressure gague is tapped onto the pressure sending unit. i used teflon tape on all of the fittings, and they don't look like they are leaking, but i have a good enough oil leak coming from somewhere on the back of the block.
my quesion is, when you put on that fitting that comes with the adapter, do you have to torque it down or does it tighted when you put on the filter? reason being is that i don't have a socket that's big enough/deep enough and it's pretty hard to get a wrench in there to tighten it down, also the gasket on it sucks but i don't know where to get another one, if i can match it up with one from a bigger oil filter and use that gasket think that would work?
TIA.

I had issues with my sammich adapter too. You dont know how bad it was pissing me off. Go get a deep socket first and just tighten down like you would an oil filter. Did you put teflon on the lines coming from the adapter? If its still leaking, I can guarantee you its the oil filter you have on. Thats what my problem was. I was using a carquest oil filter and switched to a K&N and it stopped leaking. What happened is the base of the Carquest oil filter is too shallow and it was hitting the sandwich adapter nut when tightened down and wasnt creating a nice tight seal. The K&N filters base is a lot deeper allowing the filter to screw on tighter. Bring your old filter to the auto parts store and compare them before you buy it.

GSR/vtec-e motors came with oil coolers on them, and the fitting does stick up a little. I'd have thought they'd have taken that into account for those motors' filters, and made darn sure it's never an issue.

^i'm sorry, i should have specified that it's an LS motor, i don't understand where this leak is coming from, all that i can think of is the oil sender where my pressure gague is tapped off of, the sammish adapter, and then my feed line and temp gague is tapped off of that. i don't get where else the leak could come from on the back of the block.

is there not a seal on the back of the adapter so that it seals to the block? it may be leaking from there.
i just had my autometer electrical sending unit take a dump on me and it was leaking oil all over the firewall.

not as yet, mainly because i have a bag full of OEM filters..lol so i guess start looking for a filter with a shallow'er thread base? (if that makes sence?)
