Sounds crazy, but my car burns oil if I bank a hard left. I have replaced my head gasket 3 times in the past 5 weeks. I even took off my JG head for the bone stock head thinking valve seals or something. What could be causing this? It is cylinder #1 every time. Someone told me possibly a cracked sleeve, but I don't see how.

Edit: All cylinders are between 180-184.

Repost from Tech/misc. Posted here due to no responses. The car is boosted, just know it has nothing to do with the turbo.

Even a wild guess would be better than what I've got now.

Even though i have yet to come up with an answer to this, i am thinking about it and will let you know of anything i find.

Are the sleeves stock??

Yes, the sleeves are stock. I discredited that one due to great compression, and my coolant and oil have been fine.

Just if I don't turn hard, you'd never know.

how do you know cyl 1 is burning oil. ive seen this happen when there si not enough oil in the pan when turning and causing a dry suck of the pick up. but to narrow it to one cylinder dont know how it could be done

The numerous times I've pulled my head gasket, #1 is the only one that is wet with oil.

Edit: As ghetto as it sounds, if I leave it about a 1/2 quart low, it will not burn oil. That's why I replaced the head gasket, and head so many times now.

there is something def. wrong if u have replaced ur HG 3 times in 5 weeks.

Sorry, didn't mean to type short hand. I replaced my headgasket several times because I didn't know what else could be the cause.

Are you sure it isn't cyl. 4? This is a stretch, but it's all I can think of...

Banking hard left makes the un-baffled oil slosh to the shallow "windage" area of the pan (towards cyl. 4). If the oil is overfilled, the crank counterweights will plunge into the oil and splash large amounts of it upwards. Extra oil + inadequate crankcase ventilation = oil blowing past the rings into the combustion chamber. That would explain why keeping the oil low solves the problem.

My gut instinct here tells me its a problem with the oil return for the turbo?

Maybe the condition Legion described is backing it up.

Check the little black box on the back of the block , I bet you have a hole on one of the hoses that goes to the box , I have seen this problem before. More then likely the one that comes off the block to the box , make sure that one is hooked up and that it is not torn , try that and let me know.

I'm thinking you guys are right on this. I've had a catchcan for a while. It used to pick up quite a bit of oil, rebuilt the motor, and it hasn't picked up a single drop in about 2 months. I think I need to fully replace my pcv system, and just run it to the can as well.

Thanks for looking into this. Never heard of this problem before.
Oh, and I'm a dumbass. It is cylinder #1. I can get my firing order right, but apparently don't read from left to right.
