Cut out the front bumper opening, added a vent through the front of the hood, vented the top of the hood and added hinge spacers to let hot air out, and put a block off plate to the driver's side of the radiator that directed all air flow behind the intercooler into the radiator, as opposed to flowing around it.

That block-off plate you have is interesting, don't think I've seen that before but it seems like a great idea. I'll have to consider making one of those

@AZ_CIVIC I've been looking more at your rear mount setup - have you done any street driving with your car, or know people that have with a rear mount setup? Asking because I'm curious if airflow would be an issue or not. Most of the rear mount radiator setups I'm seeing on Hondas are for track-only drag setups while this car would be seeing mostly highway driving.

I made a cardboard box that's the size of the radiator for test fitting purposes and looks like it may fit in that spot you put yours but it'd certainly be a tighter fit and hang down much lower. If I tried going this route and ran a full exhaust, it'd almost certainly need to dump out the passenger side

When you do your air diverter plate, get some clear lexan from home depot. Durable, flexible and clear. Sorry thought you already had one or i would have suggested it lol

Here's the Amazon turbo blanket

https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/honda-t...94e9e76d8f.jpg

Looks like it'll more or less clear the heim joint

https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/honda-t...cf6aaadcab.jpg

I already knew it wasn't going to fit between the third runner and the turbo but you can see that here, so I'm going to try trimming it and see how that goes. Just ordered some kevlar thread since it'll need to be sewn back up

Gota loosen that housing. Put the blanket on then tighten it up last.

I'd take the housing completely off the manifold, and then heat-wrap the manifold as well. Those top mount manifolds look super easy to wrap even with it still bolted to the head.

I'm skeptical with those cheap eBay/Amazon turbo blankets as well how much heat they actually trap. Hopefully it helps.

Re: Ohisofly’s 91 Si project – 700hp or bust

If you look closely in the last pic there are just zip ties holding on the turbo, and it's not even flat with the t4 flange. I took it off to put the heat blanket on, and when I tried putting it back on the bolts didn't want to go in, which I already anticipated (I guess pictures don't convey how tight it is). If I forced them in I'd risk damaging the threads in the manifold, and that's aside from the point that the blanket is just going to be pinched in there. I'd need to bang in the manifold a good bit more to fit the turbo blanket. In hindsight, I could've probably just cut the t4 flange off after the manifold was fully welded and angle it a degree or two so it cleared but I'm just trying to make it work now.

I'll likely get the manifold and turbine housing ceramic coated first and then maybe wrap the manifold later on if needed

Eventually I'm going to clean up the wiring going to the battery so bought these m6 busbars

https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/honda-t...5075c424ca.jpg

I got a quote for $400 to cerakote the turbo manifold, turbine housing, up pipe and wastegate dump which seems fair. After messing with how to redo the up pipe I'll only be able to get it maybe an inch further from the radiator but I figure that's better than nothing. If I make the angle sharper off of the turbo, I basically have to move the final pie cuts further down which doesn't get it any further away from the radiator than how it is below. If I wanted to sacrifice another hood I could maybe get another 1/2"-1" away but I doubt that'll make or break things anyways

Nice progress and nice pics from WCF. I'm going to Orlando next month for the Sport Compact Finals and hope to see some of these same folks down there. I want to go to WCF next year.

Man... the coil setups on miles' car and the k swapped car... interesting. I paid 220 for my hot parts ceramic coated on two different occasions

That sounds like a good time. I'd highly recommend it - I had a conflict on Saturday so this was probably the first time in the last 6 or 7 years I only went for Sunday but it was still well worth it. Certainly plan on getting there super early if you want half-decent parking (unless you buy a VIP parking pass). We arrived at 7:30 Sunday morning and still had to park next to the scoreboards even though the gates allegedly open at 8am

Indeed, below are a couple more similar setups I saw down there. Interesting yours was so much cheaper, wonder if the 400 is just a covid price. I guess I can shop around too but this was the highest reviewed place around me

Hmm.... i guess these coil setups are the new thing. Would definitely povide a shit ton more spark than honda k coils.

could be pricing on inflation, your area, or the fact that your gettin cerakote. Not ceramic coating.

Those are the ign1 coils. Found a lot on mercury marine engines.

Hit up charlie moua for coatings. He should be cheaper than those prices. Hes in Minnesota

Mocked up the first bend, right before it got welded up

https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/honda-t...f6f1d092c7.jpg

Trying to figure out the angles for this second piece, it took a good while to get it lined up with the existing hole

https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/honda-t...fc14169844.jpg

All welded up before trimming it to be flush with the hood

https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/honda-t...02a2d406d0.jpg

Yes it wasn't back purged =) wasn't really worth it since it's not supporting anything. You can see I need to trim a little more around the bottom to keep the gap even since it's at a different angle than the old up pipe, but honestly it fits way better than I thought it would so I don't have any complaints

https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/honda-t...4d80b5ee97.jpg

Left it a little tall since the wastegate dump still needs to be re-made and tucked up further away from the radiator fan

https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/honda-t...d13b1a6b73.jpg

It's about 1 & 3/8" away from that corner of the radiator - certainly closer than ideal but better than before at least. I'm super happy that now you can look down the up pipe and see the turbine wheel, so I don't have to be as concerned at car meets/shows about people putting things in the up pipe. If the hood is closed I have a piece of tooling leather to cover the up pipe and wastegate dump but didn't have a great solution for when the hood was popped

https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/honda-t...4559c721eb.jpg

Welds look pretty good considering no backpurging.

Purple on the WG looks sweet too, going to look great in the bay.

Should be a big difference with extra spacing between the radiator and donwpipe. You will notice a difference when everything is all said and done. The bigger gap, hot parts coating, and the turbo blanket

It looks like you have a lot of room to move the radiator towards the passenger frame.

I see what you're seeing, but if I move the radiator over more it'd just hit the cold side piping. The other side of the intercooler has already been modified to make it line up with the turbo and the intercooler already has four mounts welded to it (to make it fit in the spot it's currently in) so I have no intentions of moving it

I'm still alive, this thing has been sitting for the better part of a year so I've been trying to get it started the past few days

https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/honda-t...e91fa86f2e.jpg

I've confirmed that each spark plug is firing, but while cranking it only sounded like only one cylinder was even trying to fire. Each of the injector plugs are getting 12v, but it doesn't seem like all of the injectors are firing. I tried using a noid light, but it didn't seem like it was working at first. I did end up getting a video of it where it seems to just barely try to light up the bulb (https://youtube.com/shorts/DtKBThgsyLU?feature=share) but I'm not sure what would cause that

I figure since it's been sitting for long with e85 it couldn't hurt to rule out the injectors also contributing to the no-start issue, so I'll be dropping them off tomorrow to get cleaned/flow-tested. I guess tomorrow I'll also be testing the ground wire from each injector plug to the pin on the ecu plug to ensure continuity and that the resistance isn't anything crazy. Any suggestions as to what the issue would be are welcome. I still need to redo the battery wiring and put a full size battery in this thing, but even with a jump pack hooked up while cranking the noid light was still super dim/nonexistent
