Default Oh freaking great...bolts are missing from my turbo

They were there before, here's a pic of when they were there...when I first had the turbo put on.

The one on top is coming out...only reason it wasn't gone, is because it didn't have enough room to come off...as for the others, they're gone...so what the hell are they there for
I've only had the turbo for like 3 weeks and where can I get new ones?

you unbolt those nuts to clock the turbo.

you can get new ones from home depot.

This is normal. I was losing manifold bolts all the time.

Just keep an eye out every once in a while.

the fun just doesn't stop...I took one bolt out, and found that I had three bolts that would fit (found them in my tool box)...which I needed three, as three were gone.

So I put the other one back in that I took out, and go to put the other three in....well, first, the one bolt that was hanging out, was hanging out because it broke in ******* half...it just fell out when I tried to mess with it.

So, that means there's still some bolt left in there...and you can see it, plain as day. So I'm not putting a bolt in that one. I go to the last two of the three holes...same thing. Except one is not as bad and I rigged it with a bolt and a nut (oversized nut) that would help for the space left over from when trying to tighten the bolt.

So...yippy, my ******* life story, anything that could go wrong, could go wrong for me. I haven't noticed any boost leak at all and the car pulls hard still...so, the only way to get it fixed, is to go...allllll the ******* way back up to dallas...boy oh boy

when you finally do get all your bolts back and get those broken off ones out, warm the car up to normal operating temp. Hell, even rev it a bit with the hood popped and tighten the bolts while the turbo is hot. Hopefully that'll keep the bolts from backing out on you again. Or get yourself some lock washers while you're at Home Depot buying your bolts.

yeah, the only way to get those bolts off, will be to take the turbo off... then use a small drill bit to drill out the broken bolts?

Unless you can get a hold of a piece of the bolt with some vise grips. Persoanlly I'd take it to a machine shop and havethem do it. Aturbo is an expensive piece of metal to "test" your drilling skills on. There's a post floating around here from a guy that snapped off his oil pressure sensor AND an easy out. He'll be taking his block to a machine shop (hopefully).

yeah, I think I'll just go back to vsv and let them take care of it...and I can't use vise grips, the broken bolts are too far in, can't get a grip on them

You might be able to get the broken bolts out with this kit from Craftsman. But it doesn't look like you'd be able to with the turbo still on the car though.

most of the time the bolts are harder than the drill bit (Don't ask) my dad had the same problem on his powerstroke diesel, some blue high-temp loctite fixed it.

I am surprised that this is a common problem? Make me want to grab the wrenches and go check my turbo bolts

I also have the sc34. So far my bolts are still tight. I did lose my bov nuts the first day. Damn rfl. Turbo means more maintinence, so you better be ready.

I have a missing bolt as well...of course its the bolt that I had to shave. I just left it missing, nothing seems to be affected by it being gone.

wake up and smell the roses...anti-seize is a lubricant...maybe you meant thread locker?

Two days after I was turbo, I was checking all the bolts and caught a couple of those loosening off... I thought I had forgotten to tighten them... now I know heheh...
