OEM valvetrain w/ exception of springs

has anyone ever just changed just the springs in their valvetrain? I'm not a fan Ti retainers, but do want to change the springs. Will the stock honda valves take the higher rpm? if not is it stainless steel the best choice for valves? this is just a off the wall question, but is' for a D-series head.
