Default obx oilpan ---any good?

It looks similar to the moroso but is quite a bit cheaper...so I figure I'd ask if anyones is/has used one? Any thoughts?

It might be good, but for some reason the only obx stuff i saw hold up was some testpipes they did a while back....

Check the warranty (if any) on it.

If it's only a little cheaper, shell out the $$ and buy a new or used moroso.

The welds on it, etc. just don't look very clean to me... We've got a couple of them at the shop and I really just got a close look at one for the first time this last Saturday... I would just spend the extra money and put it towards the Moroso... If money is tight I would probably still take it over an OE pan... Just my $0.02

It's an oil pan. I have (had, before turbo) OBX headers and they never did me wrong. I bet you'll like it. As far as my experience goes, OBX is good AND cheap. I know it's hard to beleive... But, two sets of headers (me and a friend bought them together) and no complaints. Many have said the exhausts aren't bad either. Give it a shot, it will be fine.

Good luck!

i installed one for a customer that already had it.it did not fit and leaked.it took 4 hours of grinding and welding to make it work.it will cost more in labor to install it than the moroso pan costs

I never had OBX products. But, from what I have heard is it is made cheap, dont't hold up, and doesn't do anything for that car. Put like I said thats what I heard I have never had any of there products.

ok then, are there any good or bad experiences with the moroso oil pan? How is the fitment? I heard it was easy to strip the threads on the drain plug on these aluminum oil pans if not careful. Does it justify the $300 price?

The older ones took some grinding on the welds but all the new ones we've used have been redesigned and work just fine... Haven't had any problems lately

i got one of the moroso pans when they first came out and have had no problems whatsoever.very pleased with it.the best thing is you can run a lower oil level to help the oil drain work better

Just curious if anyone has a fix for the oil starvation that happens under very hard breaking, or most noticeably around hard/sharp left turns for the moroso pan.. Is it the oil pan design or could it possibly be the pickup? Comparing the moroso pickup to the stock pickup.. The moroso has a MUCH larger area to pull oil from compared to the stock pickup. Just a shot in the dark, but could it possibly be being exposed to some air causing the pressure drop, where the stock unit doesn't have this problem when the oil shifts in the pan? I'd sure love to solve this problem if it isn't too difficult. Thanks.

I got my moroso pan second hand, and as someone mentioned early maybe the aluminum is easier to mess up, because the threads were all messed up. I just had it get retapped with a new plug and it was good to go. It was a great pan, held a lot of oil

if obx made a plane, would you fly in it?

haha, you get what you pay for. and i know that is thrown around too much on here and people are on budgets, but those couple extra dollars could save your whole motor$$$$$
