If you leave it hanging, it'll eventually throw a code. Mine did.

Just get an O2 Simulator to avoid getting the CEL for a vehicle equipped with an OBDII ECU. You can purchase them from: http://www.importparts.com http://www.haiparts.com http://www.diabloautosports.com

without the o2sim its gonna throw a code, you cant just put it in the test pipe and think the ecu wont catch up. eventully it will figure out the cats missing. =get a o2 sim.

Are you saying your car is OBD1??? If it is, then yes, put a bung in the test pipe and screw the O2 sensor in.

sorry if the subject was unclear.

i have an OBD1 car, i was wondering if i will throw a code with the O2 sensor out. I have heard of wrapping it in tin foil or something like that. Does that actually work or should i just get this O2 simulator.

Since you have a OBD1 you do not need to take it out unless its broken. I dont know why you would want to take it out and the only reason us with OBD2 take out the secondary 02 is because of the CEL. But to answer your question, dont take it out, you are just fine with it in...

well i dont need to take it our or anything, and its not broken...I was just curious what would happen if i made a "test pipe" without the O2 sensor bung and just left the sensor hanging. Sounds like the O2 simulator is quality.

the simulator is good, but only for OBD2. Make a test pipe with the bung and put it in there.

The O2 sensor on OBDI cars is used to maintain closed loop stoichiometry. Without it, part throttle drivability will suffer tremendously and may cause the AF to get too rich or lean.
