I was merrily boosting along when suddenly the car became real loud. Almost like I was running open downpipe or something. It's a real loud and low obnoxious rumble. My idle is also at like 1100rpm.

What gives? Did it pop into limp mode or something? It's also hard to build boost. Anywho, it's in my garage now resting with the ECU fuse out just in case.

Check all your exhaust piping from mani to muffler. This sounds like something that happened to me a month or so ago when the gasket hung by one screw between my two exhaust pipes before the muffler.

Yeah, if you have them, check your gaskets for your wastegate and turbo.

I dunno, how can I tell? It sounds like it, but I can still build boost....it's harder, but I still can.

As for my gaskets, they look fine. Can gaskets just go bad like that suddenly? Anywho, I always had an exhaust leak cuz I have the downpipe secured to the stock cat with some hangars. but it never sounded like that before. Something else is wrong....grrr!!

I also had the ECU fuse out the entire night, I put it back this morning to go to work.....same deal. Grrr again.

i'd tighten the wastegate.....what kind of w/g is it? make sure everything is together....unbolt ur d/p from ur cat..and doit over..maybe u hit a bump and something got loose...

when i was running gaskets between the wastegate and the manifold they would destroy themselves fairly quickly and it would have that nice open DP sound. So I started going sans gasket and all is fine now.

Sounds like you blew a gasket! take off your wastegate and check your gasket.

Idle is at 1100? Hrmm...is it steady 1100 or does it go up and down slightly? Does your vacuum gauge needle go up and down ?

that happened to me...but my downpipe ripped in 1/2 and fell off...hahaha I would check your downpipe for rips and all the bolts and stuff....

its most likely a gasket....the valve seat was missing on my car....check that too....

If you have the Tial wastegate, take it off the manifold and make sure that the ring can be pushed in, and pops out by itself when you let go. If it's stuck sideways (happend to me), then you can get a nice leak from there. To fix it, you can gently hammer it even so the ring can move in and out.

Okay guys, thanks for the replies. I checked my gaskets and everything seems to be fine.

Yes, it idles at a steady 1100 now. I have the Deltagate from the Drag III kit.

I can't check my exhaust system cuz my car is kinda low and my friend is borrowing my lift. But from a quick glance around, everything looks fine.

And my car is STILL not running all 4 cylinders. Oh man....so many problems.

My guess is its the flex pipe. Its happened to me a couple of times. The motor torques and rips it off. Invest in some motor mount inserts. I have to do that also.
