Default Noticed the Greddy Turbo Kit for 92-95 Civic Sohc Vtec = no BOV...why?

I noticed that the greddy turbo kit for a 92-95 civic sohc vtec doesnt come with a BOV and wanted to know why?....Also if I put an intercooler on later would there be a need for a BOV (all this is runnin stock boost --6/7psi)(Daily Driven) Thanx!

probably to keep costs down? all i know is that the bov would have to be recirculated to pass smog so maybe they just opted not to get it carb exempt with a recirculating bov.

no matter what you WILL need a BOV ... compressor surge can do nasty things to your turbo really fast.

if i were you, i would put a bov. i have one on mine and i have the same set-up. i don't think you would want to pay for a blown turbo and blown engine.

Not neccasary but it does do good things for the life of the turbo. It will allso decrease the time it takes to spool the turbo back up after an abruptly closed throttle (thats when surge takes place) And just so you know, evan if you recerculate the BOV, you still will not pass California emisions. You will fail visual.

we don't have the visial problems here in ga...just hook the car up and see if it passes here. just mount the bov inside the front bumper area before the fmic...what they can't see they can't fail.

Stock Greddy boost is 5.5 psi. I would HIGHLY recommend an Intercooler to keep detonation to a minimum. Blow off valve has nothing to do with an intercooler. The blow off valve releases the air that is left in the charge pipe when the throttle body is closed so that it doesn't go back the way it came and make the turbo spin in the opposite direction. Greddy included just the parts needed to bolt the kit on and make it work. I just recently installed the SOHC kit on my 97 del Sol Si(d16y8). It pulls nicely at 5 psi. I beat(barely) my friends 97 hatch with a gsr. I'd say it's well worth the money even thought people always say "swap it **** sohc" WELL **** DOHC. lol on 8 psi kids are running low 14s.
