Nitrous cooling effect...

Well, I know the people with JRSC have to wory about intake charge air temps and therefore some of them will shoot a 20 or 25 shot to cool the air charge. Well my question is how much will the nitrous cool the charge. Say you run a turbo without an intercooler how much could you cool the air charge if you stay at low boost like say 10 - 12 lbs. Also, how big of a shot would you run if just trying to cool the air charge...? Thanks

a lot of people talk about running a small shot with the jrsc, but who actually does it? i havent seen anyone. no dyno sheets or anything, except for a couple crazy drag racers that ran 75 shots on built motors and stuff

What about the water injection kit?

Re: Nitrous cooling effect... (machaf)

Well, I got a nitrous kit for free for doing some work on somebody's car, and I'm wondering if anyone knows about the cooling effect of nitrous on ambient temp Intake charges. How about this? Does anybody know what temperature nitrous is in it's liquid state when it is injected into an intake? Please let me know.

Thanks.

-127 Deg F. If you don't believe it, spray some on your hand, really it don't feel that cold https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emcocktl.gif https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emcocktl.gif .

why dont you try it and tell us, document it and make a write up about it??

That's what I was looking for!!!! I might do some math and post it up on here but thanks for the missing figure dude.

it actually cools the air about 70 degrees https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif

Re: Nitrous cooling effect... (B20TURB0)

Well, as stated before I am going to be injecting this into my intake. CO2 is not gonna be injected into my intake. The thing you are talking about sprays onto the intercooler. I will not me running an intercooler and I will be keeping it at a very low boost for about 2 weeks and I just want to know what to expect. WEll thanks for the input guys. That info is exactlly what I needed to know.

Re: Nitrous cooling effect... (AR Fab)

Well, lets say a stock GSR with about 6lbs of boost or maybee 10 would you think it would hold with a 75 shot? with no intercooler? The turbo is a pretty large T3/T4 turbo. Thanks for the help.

Hmm... And it only took you about 3 days to come up with that!?!?! Man, you dumb ignorant motherfucker, what kind of retard are you??? Please tell me that Southern Cali has not degraded down to the level that you are at!! Man, you have just straight lost your privilege to talk anymore, especially in my posts! From now on, shut the fuck up and think before you talk. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emhammer.gif Hope this helps...

bwahah... take it easy...though it was pretty damned Dumb.

Note: You sure you want to be using Nitrous like this...I was thinking that perhaps you should look into something more constant - an intercooler, for example... to SUPPLEMENT the nitrous evaporative cooling effect...

Or is that exactly what you were doing...using the Nitrous as a temporary intercooler ? For some reason I got the impression that you'd be using it like this for good? If it's a street-car - makes no sense. If not, then sure.

In any case...for boost of that nature, a large shot isn't needed I'd think. Look at that guy with quoted intake temps and how large a shot he's running for measure! 50 and under unless you're really serious about this motor...I can't tell what this motor is app'ed for really...seems like a street car ?

Yah this is gong to just be temporary (for like 1 day at the track) until I can get my tax returns and get another intercooler with that. I might sell mineand I was just wondering if anyone knew. Thanks for all of the educated posts that were made.
