NewB turbo install questions
Doing my first turbo install on my car and have a few questions.
1. I am using a weld el log style mani. and am having some problems with the top exhaust nuts to tighten onto the head. Some of the exhaust nuts are hitting the top of the runners on the manifold kind of where the welds are. Do I need to get smaller exhaust nuts or are there any other alternatives to this?
2. What size bolts to I need for the downpipe and oil return drain flange. In my notepad I have 8mm x 1.25mm [20mm] for both. This is for a T3/TO4E. Does it matter if I have a 4-bolt or should they be the same? Just wanna make sure....
3. Which should the Missing Link fit. Should the side with the o-ring be on the top or bottom?
TIA

i think the 4 bolts for the DP are 10mm.....
I know for a fact that they are the same as the ones that come with the tial 38mm wastegate, lol. Thats what i did, i took the tial bolt to the store and got what i needed.

Re: NewB turbo install questions (SuperDuperEG)
This is for downpipe.
THEY ARE 10mm x 1.25 [20 mm]
but keep in mind, garrett has two facilities tha make turbo's for them one's stateside, other Japan or something:
Japan = 10mm x 1.25 [20 mm]
USA = 3/8-16 (don't remember size.)
I found this out the hard way, 10mm wouldn't fit, so I had to finally take turbo off car and take it to hardware store with me. I tried every metric 10mm I could find, different pitches, sizes, etc....then for the hell of it I tried a standard bolt and it went right in.
You should be able to grind some weld of your mani to get the bolts to fit. I had to for bottom downpipe bolt.
Ditch missing link, buy HONDATA, or AEM EMS!!

Re: NewB turbo install questions (mike1114)
Thanks for the replies. I got the bolts for the dp and they fit but they are not the same for the oil return drain flange. Anyone know what size I need? And anyone know which way the missing link goes in? TIA.
