New TV show on DIY: Tricked Out
Hey guys, just thought you would like to know about a new TV show that you can add to your DVR. There's a show on DIY (DoItYourself network) that installs parts on various sport compact cars. I was pretty impressed with the detail that they go through, explaining what wires went to what and why.
The show is called "Tricked Out"
It is on that same channel that they remodel houses.

I know I'm late to the party, but I actually never heard of it until I met these guys at SEMA. The install they did on the SRT-4 and detailing what all the wiring did was better than I've seen in any magazine in a long while.

that guy blows, half of his installs are half assed. if they had a real installer, youd see some good techniques. but it is a pretty cool show, i watch it too. i like unique whips on speed channel better. youll see some real installation of accessories on there.

Unique does great projects, but the detail, and how much a viewer learns is summed up by this: "Yo, 36's on da Navi are tight. If you ain't on 36's on chrome, you suck!"
I've never once heard them say something like: " you can't run 245/35 on rim x cause it won't work, or you can't run this amp with these speakers cause . . ."
Watching the DIY show, they explained that wire x was going to the MAP sensor for load, and it is how the piece of electronics knew how much boost you were running. Here's the pin you find it on the harness, etc. You actually learn something. I admit, that the cars are a little bit dated for style, or a bit mail order, but the attempt at teaching the viewer something is commendable.

Did you guys see the episode on Unique Whips where they rattle canned the Escalade's dash components, lol. Who knows how much they charged for labor and then they use a rattle can for paint, lol.

Think of it from the view of a 16yr old who just got his liscense and maybe dropped $500 for his first beater. MANY people don't know what to do with a wrench besides stick it up their *** and look stupid. Breaking that mysterious barrier of what certain components do will usually get them thinking, and look further into it.
The fisrt time I helped rebuild a pontiac 455ci v8 in 7th grade, I thought it was overwhelming. Since then I've built my own v8's and i4's, exhausts, turbo kits, etc. If not for that first summer breaking me into it, I'd probably be doing little more than oil changes and *maybe* timing belts. As long as they don't get into the rut of purely bolt-ons like many other shows, then to them.

Unique does pretty basic installs for the most part and alot of old school techniques are used. Those guys charge a ton of money, but as long as the customer is happy...... The episode they brought in "the dream team" for tony stewart's car was nice work.

Unique whips blows. I cant stand that show in the slightest. It is always just a bunch of drama and seeing bling on some car that 99% of america cant buy. And the owner is a ******* poser.
Good show after pinks is Forza motorsports showdown.
