new turbo...shaft play?
I just bought a new turbo from HT member Rouge Works and it has some side to side shaft play. It is brand new and he said that it is normal...It is a garret t3/to4e. Does this sound right.....oh, there isno in andout play

It's normal to have play as long as the blades do not contact the housings. See, when under oil pressure the turbine/compressor assembly will become much stiffer.

same thing is happening to my brand new t3/t4. i've been told that it should stiffen up once you run it on the engine, hopefully they're right

it only has like 4000miles on it

As I said, side to side is normal, as there has to be room for oil to flow around the bearing. Axial play is a problem, you should not have any of that. Enjoy
