Default New turbo setup.... Car missfiring! No idle! Black smoke! Uberdata! 3bar! Please help me...

PROBELM FIXED!!!!! The map sensor was the problem!Thnx for your help every one!

<3 honda-tech

-----------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Another update:

Almost 99.9% it's the map sensor i got.

I got some info from a Uberdata forum moderator, and he gave me this equation...

5 volts / map sensor's bar = map singlal volts

SO, that means

5 volts/ 3bar= 1.66volts hence, if oyu have a 3bar, you look for 1.6v

---> 5 volts / 2bar = 2.38 votls

That's what i got as my reading!!!! i obviously have a 2bar map sensor

Thank you Big Wig and 93turbo16 for your help guys!

Update:
pretty much concluded on faulty map sensor.. either wrong bar, or not working properly. Just ordered NEW GM 3bar w/ pigtail, so we'll see if that does the trick.

I'll let you guys know once i wire that up

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey everyone! I need some help diagnoseing my problem.

I've recently boosted my b18b ej1, but i've been having probelms getting it to run right. first off my setup:

specs :
---> hardware:
- garret t3/t4 50 trim. .48 a/r
- spoolinperformance mani/dp/dumptube (cloosed loop) 2.5" downpipe
- tial 38mm wastegate (10psi spring)
- spearco intercooler
- tial 50mm bov
- 2.5" piping

---> fuel manegment:
- s100 hondata w/ boost (not working for some reason) ---*now have uberdata*--
- walbro 255hp fuel pump
- dsm blue top 440cc injectors
- resistor box for injectors
- gm 3bar map sensor

Probelm:
I start the car up and it cant idle worth crap, drops down and down till whole car shakes and lights dim out. Secondly, it sounds like it's missfiring and not running on all four cylinders.

I can take it for a drive downt he road, and it seems to work better under load. I can give it wot and it'll start to pick up speed like normal, but it will missfire occasionally. Black smoke (probably rich) will come out while idle reving.

Before turbo was installled, idle was prefect. I never touched distributor nor the plug wires. Spark plugs are gapped to .028.

Spark plugs are also completely BLACK. Now would this have something to do with the missfire? Could it be possible my basemap is so rich for the motor that it's haveing a probelm sparking? I changed plugs and after just idleing for a minute plugs were completely black.

it's running straight from dp if that effect anything.

What's going on here? Please help me

tech trouble shooting...

check your 3 bar wiring
make sure your running the new 3bar uberdata script...

and w/ 440's i wouldnt even bother w/ the 3bar your gonna run out of fuel well before full boost...

check your org timing w/ a timing gun

also what ar you reading for a/f at idle...hope your using a wbo2

basically unless your running a tiny tiny turbo the injectors will max out before you will even reach boost numbers that you would need to even have a 3bar map sensor

is your resistor box wired up correctly for your injectors,
are you throwing any codes

suprisingly so many people mess up with the resistor box install and end up having a bunch of bad problems due to this......

planing on 10psi. I know stock map reads up to ~10.63, so i figured it was would be safe to upgrade the map. Also it was more common for a 3bar to be sold then a 2bar, so that's why i have it.

Im almost 100% sure resistor box wiring is good.

Is it tuned? I see you said basemap so I would assume not. New plugs? New wires? Plug gap? If so try to get some tuning done.

Use Uberdata V 1.7. Set the "fuel cut value" tab in the Boost section to 8(there will be a 24 in there when you open the stock map). Problem should be fixed. Do that and return with results.

possible to check 3bar's voltages to see if it's working properly. Maybe it's bad?

would that be the cause to all my problems?

ok according to hondata.com website, 3bar voltage from map wire to gnd should be 1.6v (rather then 2.85 on a stock map)

I used a multimeter to test that and i found that mine reads 2.38v

what's wrong here?

here is my wiring (not soldered because i just rewired and im still testing)

Does anyone recognize this 3bar? i bought it off a h-t member....

Damn it someone got it before me. I have tuned cars before where that exact problem happen. I usually set it to 12 though. Give us your map too and tell us what version you are using. We can help you out. This is def. a Uber problem, because your car can run underload and not idle (fuel cut thing).

yep and that's all in one minute of idleing!

it's gotta be miss reading signal from my map sensor!

i think some idiot sold me a 1bar so its getting a sending a higher voltage which would cause ecu to throw in more fuel. As well as effect idle.

your base map is most likely fouling out your plugs..

Your running really rich..

your 3 bar has a totally different plug then your stock map sensor.

I have seen many 2 bar and 3bar map snesors. I have never seen one like the one you have that is claimed to be a 3bar. You should have 5 volts at connector C (Yellow/red wire on your harness) and 1.6 volts at connector B (white wire on the factory harness) if it is a 3 bar. You got a reading of 2.38 volts though so, I am wondering if it is a 2bar? Keep us updated on the info you find out and we'll help. Have you ever actually seen the basemap you have in your car?

Phil
