new rods and pistons... not sure what i think [pics]
ok, here's a useless post.
endyn 9.0-9.5:1 87mm piston :
the ringlands on the new piston and my stock one (non-broken side shown ):
h beam vs i (stock) beam rods, much shorter piston :
i am very impressed that you can't even SEE the seam where the rod goes together at the bottom. it's there, but they must do some finish machining after they cut and bolt them!?!?
anyway, i'm kinda bummed at how heavy the rods are... and i have a sneaking suspicion that the "9.0-9.5" piston is really closer to 9.0. probably going to get a slightly thinner cometic headgasket.

Wow...nice!
I'd definitely get some rollerwaves if they made them for my application!
It's very easy to calculate compression ratio if you know the numbers on those pistons. Specifically, you need compression height, dome/dish cc, head gasket thickness, and head chamber volume.

got or could get everything but the dish cc... doesn't seem to be published anywhere.
i guess i could guesstimate it.

Very nice, looks very familiar. Oh yeah those are in my block too. Yeah, don't sweat the rod weight, you'll wish you didn't if you were running different ones. The rods can take the abuse, I mean are extremely durable. They aren't that heavy. When comparing to stock I would have to say stick with teh Eagle.

Re: (Anubyss)
interesting! that makes me think the endyn guys are closer to the 9.5:1 side of the range they publish than the 9.0:1 side. what's the compression ht. on the JE? i assume it would be measured to the top of the ridge, and not the bottom of the dish?

Hmm can't answer that one since I am at work right now. I'll measure it when I get home today. How much those run you anyway? I got mine with the Eegle rods shipped for 790. Me and my friend bought at the same time so he cut us a deal.

it was 895 shipped for the rods, pistons, rings, and pins. sounds like you got a good deal!

what kind of camera did you shoot the picks with. the clost up shot come out so good. i have a sony and no close up shot can even come close to that clarity.

i'm using new bearings, although they look pretty damn clean i don't want to skimp in such a crucial area...
there's 10 pieces. the service manual has the appropriate reference from the journal and block codes, although i just let GE do it. they claim to hand select them much more precisely than the codes would dictate.

Re: (CovertFI)
that's from a nikon cp990. i have a cp5000 too, but am not using it much yet. will be selling the 990 shortly.
the keys to close up shots:
1. "macro" lens, i.e. one that can focus very close-up. nothing you can do about this if the camera is not capable of it.
2. fixed lighting. flash is horrible for stuff like this. get a halogen lamp and point it at the subject.
3. hold still. unless you shoot with a very wide aperture and high iso equivalency, you'll be slow enough that holding the camera steady is important. under 1/15 of a second you should brace or use a 'pod.

Re: (schwett)
are those eagle rods? well i got a question
on my rods the number on the rod do not match the number on the rod cap,but the other rod has the cap that match the number on the other rod,do they maybe swap the rods caps? or when
they machine the rod bore they keep the cap attached to it no matter what number

I have the same pistons and rods. The rod caps do look seamless. I really like the design of the RW's.
