Default new pistons and rings how bad?

Hey my firend wants to do an LS/Vtec and is thinking of changing th epistons to ITR ones with new rings. How bad is it to put these in with out honing the block first? Will he have a lot of problems?

Just gotta measure how outta round they are. But you better get a bead honer or something to break the glaze off the walls or your not gonna have the seal and success with them you want.
