New low cost Manley Rod
Manley has come out with a rod to match Eagle. Machine work looks nice on it and it comes with ARP2000 bolts. The gsr rod weighs in at 506 grams

I think the quality is similar to Eagle. I was told that the final machine work was done at Manley. I think Eagle is 100% done in Taiwan. Right now I just have 2 sets for the gsr motor. I kind of wanted to see what they look like. Pricing would be very similar to Eagle

I could be wrong but I think Eagle,Scat,Tuner Toys and Crower Econos are all made in Taiwan/China.Being made overseas isnt as bad as you would think alot of "made in America" products are assembled only here with all China made parts. Most people assume if its made in China/Taiwan etc it is going to be a SSauto mani style quality when really they will and can make everything from raging piles of steamy **** to high end presicion parts. There is a huge market demand for low cost products and knock offs so that is what you see mostly.None the less great to see another rod in the market the more cometition the better

Does this final machine work done by Manley simply mean scribing their name on it?

Are these noticeably different from Eddie Kim's Peak Performance rods that supposedly are made by Manley? I've tuned a couple of high HP and seen a couple of other extremely high horsepower cars using them without issue.

IS it? I was asking a legitimate not rhetorical question.

Re: (blundar)
I'd say its fair to say the DESIGN of the rod is the same for all of these rods. The manufacturing I'd imagine could vary quite a bit. I'd imagine the machine work(or lack of) and actual materials used can vary quite a bit. If Mannly puts out a much better part for only $25 more than Eagle, then it might be in the best interest of some to buy Mannly rods. The only way to truely determine which part is better quality is to throw it through a gamit of "expensive" engineering tests which no one will do.

i'm sure they're the same rods, just finished in house like the crowers are. meaning..they do the final machiene work and install the rod cap bolts...but, it's PROVE that eagles are extremely strong and capable rods...so unless these are cheaper, the only ppl that will buy them are ricers that are just out there so they can name drop parts

Re: (boosted94cx)
i equate it to wilson combat (a very very high-end manufacturer of custom 1911 handguns, the $2k price range) working with Armscor (in the Philippines) to offer a more budget-oriented 1911. they can attach their name to a new niche in the market, one in which they currently are not competitive.
my guess would be that Manley has done something similar, in getting the rough forgings from the same suppliers that places like scat and eagle do, finishing in-house (like scat and crower). this way they're able to offer a more budget-oriented product, and start covering that area of the market--again, one in which (until now or whenever the rods are offered for sale) they aren't competitive.
that doesn't mean it's a bad thing, by any means. just one more name to add to the list of choices.
