New Competition Clutch Stage 5
Who has used this? I got it today, looks great however how is it supposed to last and decent amount of time? I mean look at the pics below. The heavy duty rivets are like 1 mm below the friction surface. This this is going to last like 1 summer if that. Its the stage 5 (sprung obviously). Post how long yours lasted (in approx miles not months). Thanks

actually if you look at most clutch disc's the rivits are all about the same. the friction material doesnt wear as fast as you might think. but for a stage 5 clutch it may be a diffrent story. it all depends on how you treat it.
**edit**
are those ceramic pucks or some kind of softer material?

Oh ok, well I hit the track as much as I can. I dont really bag my car too bad, only take it to its limits at the track. I dont take it around the street that much either. Pretty much 200km/wk. Well hopefully it will last more than a summer!

All I have to say is, make sure you get the heavy duty pressure plate. Here's mine after ~500 miles. 1st pass at the track on low boost (460hp/???tq)
Looks ok here:
But not here:
what broke:
I bought the clutch in May of 2007, rebuilt the motor a installed the clutch February 2008, the pressure plate broke March 2008. Chris at Comp Clutch tried to help me out with warrantying the pp, but long story short it was taking too long and it seemed like not it wasn't going to happen. 2 months passed and I was tired of not being able to drive the car so I bought a Tilton twin disc instead.

rest assured. that clutch WILL do whatever you want. i ran mine up to over 700hp, torque was approaching the 500 area, and it held like a champ. car went 10.02 on it.
for the price you cant beat that clutch bro

The clutch is in, feels great. Its totally streetable. My exedy stage 2 was way worse. However it does grab really hard. You can definitely feel it when shifting. Its like a magnet, you know when you hold two like an inch apart then it just grabs.

Re: (the.hamburglar)
Sounds like a 2 puck difference.
I've seen a few puck type clutches that scored flywheel and clutch facings pretty bad - - don't know if this is common for puck type clutches or the result of high hp &/or low pressure plate pressures.

Well, I dunno what to say about this one. If I dropped the ball, then I'd gladly eat it and apologize. If you went from from our clutch to a Tilton twin it sounds as if you were well under clutched to begin with. Either way, I hope you are happy and I do apolgize personally for not helping you the way I'm (in)famous for lol. Please feel free to slam me, but I'd rather be loved lol.
