Hondata Coil Pack Retrofit (CPR) - AVAILABLE IN JUNE!
Overview
The Hondata Coil Pack Retrofit (CPR) allows the use of 'coil on plug' individual ignition coils on engines with distributor based ignition systems (D, B, F and H series Honda engines). It does this by replacing the stock coil and ignition with an electronic circuit which can drive igniter type individual ignition coils, such as used on later model Honda engines. A Hondata S300 system is required.
How much does the Hondata CPR cost? $395 AVAILABLE IN JUNE! PRE-ORDER NOW!
What does the Hondata CDR come with?
The Hondata CPR comes with a wiring harness for your coil packs, a coil pack controller and fly leads for connecting to your distributor and ECU. The CPR is typically positioned next to the ECU inside the car.
Benefits
* More spark energy than a single coil, allowing a larger plug gap and fewer misfires.
* Individual coils are more durable and less likely to fail than the stock igniter and coil.
* No exposed plug leads results in less interference to other electronics on the vehicle.
* Additionally, the Coil Pack Retrofit can drive a CDI controller if desired.
Requirements
* Hondata S300 system (not included).
* 4 x coils, Honda part number 30520-PVF-A01 (approx $60 retail and not included)
Optional parts
* 4 x coil seals, Honda part number 30522-RNA-A01 (approx $19 retail)
These coil seals provide a tighter fit than those supplied with the 30520-PVF-A01 coils.
Notes
* Resistor plugs must be used.
* The coils require a method of retention. B16A, B18C & F22A engines may use the stock plug cover. Other engines require an alternative method of coil retention (not supplied).
* This is a race product. Cranking times may be increased over a stock ignition set up.
* For detailed installation instructions click here.
FAQ
- Can I remove the distributor?
No. It is needed for the timing signals. See the CPR help file for more details.
CDI
- The Coil Pack Retrofit can be used with capacitive discharge ignition systems, such as M&W Pro-14, Autronic 500R or Motec 41011. Note that a CDI controller must be used - the Coil Pack Retrofit will not drive capacitive coils directly.
The CDI controller will be triggered from the Coil Pack Retrofit coil trigger outputs. The Coil Pack Retrofit produces a rising edge trigger for the coil packs, so the CDI controller should be configured to use a rising edge trigger.
Does this sytem work with any other engine management?
NOT AT THIS TIME. At this time ONLY hondata s300 works with it.
"The S300 needs to output a synchronization signal to the coil driver."
The system communicates with the ALTC (alternator control) output.

Does loom make a performance difference? Give me a break...
The blue connectors work fine, otherwise hondata wouldn't use them on the harness.

Hell yes loom makes a difference......loom and electrical tape....seriously. Why not charge an additional 5 dollars and heat shrink the thing so that you know it's not going to get nasty and come off. Maybe for your budget racers, loom and electrical tape is sufficient so what eva.
And it sucks that you still need to run the distributor. I understand the idea behind this design....same as the other company that put the module inside the distributor to run COPs, but still would love to ditch the distributor all together.
For those that asked, no you can not run the EPM in this current configuration. I am sure with some small software change and a little bit of rewiring, it could be had with little effort. But getting Hondata to agree to mod their unit to work with the AEM EPM....that ain't happening.

You still keep your distributor??? Is there any way to use a cam trigger???
I dont see what it will benefit over a pro 10? Maybe looks???

Since I am needing to upgrade my ignition system this year I would like to know the benefits of using this over the M&W pro-10 also. It seems like it will be cheaper to use this CPR kit. Will the Pro-10 system still need to be used in conjuction with this kit for higher hp applications? If so, what are the limitations of the CPR kit?

I literally just went with a pro10 and ps92 coil from T1 but this is pretty cool none the less to see coming out from Hondata.
Now they just need to develop a bolt on trigger to replace the dizzy and it sounds like people would probably be all over this like a coat of paint.

I dont see how this will be much cheaper than the Pro-10 route when you still need to buy a CDI and a set of coils.
Either way I encourage the innovation no matter what the cost, it keeps this sport moving in the right direction

You don't need to buy the CDI. You can use just the CPR and the recommended coils.

Great product coming from Hondata.
There are just haters that love to nit pick on your company.
I hope to test it on my EJ1 sometime.

I'm always excited about seeing new products like this. I'm curious how it would respond on a mild 500whp b-series 30r setup or if ignition upgrades are really only needed for the 700+ crowd. I've never had ignition break-up issues.
