New build smokes under decel....
Alright over the past month I have put together my b16a3 motor built with wiseco pistons (9:1 comp) and eagle rods. I used the wiseco piston rings and installed new valve seals that came in a rebuild gasket kit. The turbo is used but was rebuilt right before it was installed with all new oil seals. I have a tunertoys oil kit with an inline oil resistor from ATPTurbo.com and I have a 5/8" return. I also have an oil catch can with the setup.
My question is why is my car smoking (blueish smoke which smells like oil) under decel after all this new stuff was installed?? The motor only has around 190 miles on it and is still being broke in easy and has only been revved to about 5k rpm under about 50% throttle. Could it be the rings are still not seated?? Please help me out with any insight. Thanks

Ive broken in all of my motors but one (the very first one i build), by letting it warm up and driving it hard for its first 50 miles then change the oil and usually by 100 miles its got great compression numbers and no smokin.
Take it out and give it some heavy load and decel cycles!

Re: New build smokes under decel.... (sohc_turd)
Alright thanks for your input. I have just heard soo many different methods of breaking in motors that I don't know which one to do. What I first did was let it idle for about a half hour to bleed the coolant and to put it through a heat cycle. I then changed the oil to get out the assembly lube and what not that might have gotten into the motor during the build. I then changed the oil again and have now put about 190 miles on it but like I said I haven't beat on it yet but I have done about 50% throttle to 5k rpm. I will go to low boost here soon to try to hopefully seat the rings 100% and to stop the smoking.

lol... yeap!
I guess it can be nerve racking the first time.
