New to boost. Turbo question(s)
I am pondering the thought of boosting by b16 civic. its an 00 si with i/h/e (even though the turbo with replace the intake and header) and a hondata s200. i have been talking to a few people about boosting, and i was looking at the garrett t3/t04E turbo with a log manifold. This is my daily driver and im looking to make around 255-265 safely. I have already decided on all of the other equipment i will be using other than the turbo. Will this turbo be too much? i want to stay safe, and I will not be building the motor anytime soon so i will not need anything to hold more than 300-350 hp. I have read that the garretts are reliable, and i want to do everything RIGHT but still CHEAP. I will not skimp on parts that will be potentially harmful to the car, but i do want to do this as cheap as possible (I will not splurge, hence the reason for the log manifold). Let me know what you think. Also i have an excedy stage one clutch and fidanze flywheel. Will this hold 250? i have searched but all i can find is the torque capacity increase, no numbers.
Thanks for any and all responses

Re: New to boost. Turbo question(s) (warriorti22)
it sounds good.
most of the STGI clutches should hold up to ~255WTQ+, it's the Tq that will make a clutch slip more so than the HP; thats why it is more likely to see clutches rated in Tq.
As you selected the T04E, it will be a good match for the DD, because it will not be boosting untill the upper RPM's, when you want the power right? plus you stay out of boost for longer keeping the economy friendly. But when it boosts, you will know it!
It won't be useless with stock suspension, not at all... stock tires, they might like to slip a bit; don't expect traction in 1st when it boosts. My .42/.48 rips em loose easily, so the T04E will be harder to "regulate" in 1st gear boost.

Re: New to boost. Turbo question(s) (warriorti22)
cheap effective setup
-SPoolin Log manifold w/ 3" dp and exhaust---$900
-T3 Super 60---$500
-Motorola 2.5bar map---$30
-JK Tuning Chipped P28 w/ conversion harness---$250
-RC550cc injectors---$200
-JRC 6" intercooler---$130
-Ebay piping and couplers---$150
-any bov (i run a Tial)---$40-200
-Tial 38mm wastegate *not something to skimp on*---$200
-Exedy Stage 2 clutch---$250
-OBD1 injector clips and resistor box---$40
-Fastturbo Vac manifold---$40
Thats about the cheapest setup i can come up with while still using new parts that arent ****. All told that comes out to $3000 ish without tuning, but its everything you need. If you are patient and grab up deals as you find them, you can easily save a few hundred bucks
