Default New Autometer boost gauge reading 5psi?

Im about to install my gauge into my car next weekend and I noticed my gauge needle isnt sitting on 0 like I figured it should sitting in the box.

Is this a defective gauge or will this self correct when the engine is started?

it may set correctly once it has gotten some pressure...but then again maybe not... if you can afford to wait you might as well go ahead and get it replaced before you put it in.

The gauge will zero itself once installed...no cause for alarm

if it doesnt correct itself, then you can fix it by using the magnet inside. take a nail or any metal object that is long and skinny and stick it through the hole for the lightbulb and rub it against the metal. You can re-calibrate it that way. i had to do that with my gauge and its been working perfectly for over a year

Tried that, and the guage went straight to 30 PSI.. man im fed up with this. My friends does this too.

I thought autometer was suppose to be a quality gauge? Why cant they have it say 0 right out of the box...

I emailed autometer, I want a new one.

Did you drop the gauge?

I had something like this happen when I had my Talon. It read correctly wheh I first installed it but I noticed after a few day the needle di not return to 0. A few other users in the DSMtalk.com forums had the same thing happen to them.

Autometer boost gauges are crap. I don't know anything about their new line with the stepper motors. I bought a Spearco gauge from Inlinepro and it worked great.
