Need turbo selection help: GT28R vs. Pulsar T28 for b16
Im looking to get ~300whp on my b16 crx.
These turbos cost exactly the same on cheapturbos.com
GT28R:
GT DUAL STEEL BALLBEARING CARTRIDGE
TURBINE SPECS: T25
.64 A/R Turbine Housing
62 Trim Turbine
COMPRESSOR SPECS: T3
.60 A/R Housing
60 Trim Wheel
Compressor Flow: 31 LB/MIN
Pulsar T28:
Factory Nissan Pulsar GTiR T28
TURBINE SPECS: T28
.86 A/R Housing
79 Trim Wheel
COMPRESSOR SPECS: T3
.60 A/R Housing
60 Trim Wheel
Compressor Flow: 33 LB/MIN
THe pulsar t28 has a much bigger a/r and flows little more lb/min. But the gt28r is dual ball bearing.
What do you guys think?

pulsar t28 looks like itll make more power....
spool time on the gt28r will be fast, maybe too fast..no traction?
id get the t28

I would totally disagree. I used to run the Pulsar T28 on my cousin's Sunny years ago. The A/R measurement on the T2 flanged portion of these turbos can be confusing to some, so don't let the number fool you because of a housing size. But for sure the GT28R is a MUCH better choice than that small Sunny Nissan turbo, especially for the higher flowing honda head.
GT28R for your particular needs would be the better choice.

def. GT28R ... used it allready... it's impossible to have more fun then with this turbo.
but maybe you should scew your hp goal a bit down on this turbo... for 300whp you must push it realy realy hard.
if 300whp is your goal then take a GT28RS (.64ar) it has a great spoolup also and is capable for aprox. 325whp
but i think 300 bhp is possible without problems with the GT28R

I did built a B18C with GT28R.
not same displacement, but we got full boost of 12 psi by 2500 -- 2600 RPM.
no big hit, traction loss to it's max when vtec kick in.
good setup though, this is one little boy that can make HP.
No dyno sheet for this one, sorry.
hope this help.

The T28 from the Nissan Pulsar would be the hands down better choice between the two turbos you have listed. I have used it myself on a Honda. Search my old posts for more info, but the long and short of it, I made 210WHP at only 6psi. I had 175lb.ft by 3500 with a peak of 190. (on a B20)
The people responding otherwise are not reading your post properly i.e. not reading the specs or are confusing the the GT28R with another turbo.
The turbos have identical compressors, the T28 has the larger hotside. It will make more power. Period. The .64 hot side will be too small for the high revving high flowing B16 engine.
The Pulsar T28 is a great turbo. P.S. My peak HP reding is only from 6K rpm, my redline was 7K. You have another 1K rpm to work with. My power was still going up when I let off...
