Default Need some opinions on axle choice for high hp application.

I am looking to get about 500-600hp from my SuperCivic600 project. The car will see street use but mostly track. I will be starting with a my 24.5 M&H (13x8in Bogart) setup for slicks. I was looking at driveshaftshop.com for axles... what is everyones opinion on these axles(stg 3-4) Im not going to run to big of a slick as I want to preserve the tranny for atleast a season. Is there any other alternatives? I really dont want to spend 1500 bucks on axles..
Any help would be great.
Thanks!

B18b I searched and found RAT in FL and driveshaftshop & prodrive... What is your opinion? Dont you have or pilot a 9 second civic? what do you use? I have searched a few times and these are the only names I could find.. any testimonials? I dont want to snap a fawkin' axle up top and end up eating it at 140mph+.

depends ony our slick size i ran at first with factory axles never broke till i went to a taller slick 25*10*15 . I would think a stage 3 dss or prodrive setup will work good with accord hubs.

Hehe na not by means of JR, IAT gets way outta control and I dont feel like going through the whole "Im going to intercool the JR thing" Im trying to work something out with Vortech/Progress about getting the same Vortech setup as the Bonneville car... Crank driven blower w/ cogged belt etc..

sorry but I dont think your motor makes enough power to drive the cog in the first place, take a look at how much power the SC uses at high Boost, it like 100HP

What are you talking about? The cog doesnt drive the charger in any different way than the Vortech SI kit... it eliminates the damn drive shaft that goes across the motor and allows you to run a "timing belt sized" cogged belt so it doesnt slip... it wouldnt sap any more power than the drive shaft setup does... it may even be less parasitic. Im not turning an eaton M90 blower here... there is a shload less drag from centrifugal blowers as the compressor is alot lighter than say rotors of an eaton blower.
At high boost Im quite positive that a motor making 500hp+ would spin the blower to a terminal rpm quite easily.

no need to get so defensive. i see another problem in your super600 project. unless you plan on taking your car off road, how are you going to manipulate your boost levels to run safely on the street? Vortec doesn't seem like a good idea unless you have unlimited access to racing fuel, either that or swap pulleys between the track and street.

Stay with stockers until you break them like tooth picks. Then once you break them go with a high strenth axle like the ones you said, or vitek, etc. But dont go buy them unless you know you need them.

Oh no.. I think you all have the wrong idea.. I know what it takes to get 5to600 hp out of a honda motor... trust me. lol there is no need for the car to be putting down 500+ hp to the wheels on the street.. this would be in track only form brother..lol .
I have access to cnc and top notch welding so having a variety of different pulleys wont be a problem. The car will be tuned for about 400 on the street and no more lol Im sure you (sef, b18b) know that once you breach 300hp traction is a real issue for the streets and anymore is just useless. I have been piecing this project together for 5 years and have been into imports for what.. 9 years or so.. and remember this is all out of my own pocket no help from mommy or daddy or anyone else for that matter. I am also working on a piggyback program to the hondata system that will allow for different values to be plugged in for a variety of conditions... eheh Ill show you all some of this poo poo soon.. I want to get the car done and pull a few dyno runs and get a rough tune before I talk anymore poo poo.
Obtw Sef, Rtype sorry if I came across defensive it wasnt meant that way..
Before I say anything more about power output I should shadap until I have the graph to prove it.
A little fyi... Back in 93-94 who would have ever thought a turbo honda would have ever reached 700hp+??
I also want to thank alot of you for helping me gain knowledge to refine my project up to where I am today..
Ya learn something new everyday.
(Rofl it puts poo poo in fer ish? lol)

a lot of what goes into making reliable big hp goes beyond part selection. a lot of it is extensive maintanance. just watch the guys running fast and you'll see they visually inspect each axle after every run. My axle choice would of course be pro drive hubs with accord joints and the prodrive axle set. if you have big money maybe you can convince them to make you some of their experimental axles.

Do you have any idea how much those are?
Moroso wants $1635 per SIDE ... and that's JOBBER cost.

Everyone at my company just about passed out looking at the price.

since the JG suspension/axle came out tht jojo and kenny tran and adrian sabori use its pretty much bullet proof. They dont inspect crap anymore. They lucky now but for 5gs its better hold all the power.

theres another guy that built a custom setup for pfispeed.com. They also got a pretty much stout setup as well. AXLES are no longer an issue anymore. It still trying to get all that torque to the ground.
