i mite be moving to north carolina and was wondering if i can bring my car
(turbocharged)? what are the rules up there? i can't find anything soild on the net so if someone can give me some frist hand info i would appercate it

i did they do a saftey check lights and brakes and stuff. I have aftermarket brakes and no cat, i can put one one that's not a problem, what about my 4inch aluminum exhaust, a cell in the truck no rear seats. I guess that's what i'm asking, how strict is it. We have laws in Fl, but there not really inforced and we done have emmissions any more.

There are two methods for NC inspections.

1. OBDI Vehichles: 1995 and older. They do your standard safety inspection. Plenty of places will let you by with open downpipe; you just have to find the right ones.

2. OBDII Vehicles: 1996 and newer. Basically the car is hooked up to a diagnostic scanner which will check your codes. So, if you have a 96+ civic with turbo, you are probably running on a chipped p28 or something like that. This means you are screwed unless you put the car back to stock for testing.

Note: there are ways around obdII inspections as well but that is illegal

well, don't flame me it's not a honda i have an 86 toyota corolla with a
2rz w/a t72 swaped in it.

what about the aftermarket stuff (brakes,front bumper(JDM) and no back seats(mini tubs) and a cell in the trunk?

bro you will do just fine....anything over 96 up is check for codes but yours will pass if horn,lights,turning signal,and little safety ****....i wouldnt be worry like in ghetto *** california with all their stupid *** smog ****...i run no cat no muffler and ebay turbo and the cops around here have never [freak] with me...by the way i came out of cali tooo and never moving back

like everyone else said. all they check is lights, windshield wipers, i dont think they even crack the hood.
