Default Need some help - Ostrich not working (Timing out)

I just bought a ostrich (v1) from a guy in the classifieds. I'm trying to set it up on my laptop. I have gone to the settings tab and set the "Moates Ostrich" hardware type to the correct COM port as well as "PGMFI OBD1 RTP" to COM 2.

When I hit test connection I get a timed out error (of course I get the same error when I hit "Put" on the real time emulating toolbar in crome.

Anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this? My Burn1 hardware works fine.

The exact error I get is...
"The operation failed after 3 attempt(s) with 250milliseconds between each attempt"

Trying to work with a P28.

Thanks.

Your driver settings are not matched or correct.

Yeah, pull up your hardware manager (right click my computer, manage, then device manager). Plug in the ostrich and look for the "ports" to update what port its connecting to. If nothing updates, then you need to address a driver issue. If it updates, then go to those port settings and make sure they match in crome settings.

When I plug the ostrich in it comes up on the device manager. I think it maybe has something to do with the firmware, but on moates.net they only have the firmware for the ostrich v2 so I'm afraid to use that (Craige explicitly says to only use the firmware for the hardware you have).

Also I made sure the settings in the device manager match what crome has. Bump for some more help.

Thanks to C. Moates we figured it out! All that I needed to do was set it up to COM5 and it worked.

To the guys that posted earlier, thanks for the help!
