Default need some clarity on rod choice for D15 mini me turbo build

Hello Honda-tech,

at the tail end of feburary i purchased a bone stock, rust free, ridiculously clean EG lx sedan. Im gettin ready to build a D15 turbo mini me bolted to an ex/si trans, but ive hit a small snag in my research. It would seem that noone makes forged rods for the B7 but through my searching ive found a set of D15B2 forged rods. Now every thread ive read on here and other sites says that these rods with fit my block with no clearence issues. Is this true?? Any feed back is greatly appericated before i go wastin money on parts i cant use.

According to Crower, B2 and B7 rods are the same, so yes, they should work.

B2 and B7 are identical bottom end, parts are all interchangeable. Crower is the only company that makes forged rods like $700 for a set. By the time its all said and done, your much better off using a 1.6 block and building it.

Very interesting......And a good find, nobody in the past has made forged rods for D15 motors, forcing guys to run 1.6 blocks instead.

The thing you should try to do is get them to tell you what the rod journal diameter is.

Then compare that number to the stock numbers of a D15 and a D16, as the D16 has a slightly larger rod diameter. Just to make sure they are actually for a D15 crank.

Looks like you will have to knotch the block with those, but everyone has to do that.

The standard 75mm bore (pm3) is the same as all other D15/D16 motors.

As far as piston choice goes, it looks like those are stock D15 length, so I am not sure what a set of vitaras would land you on compression ratio? Maybe someone else can chime in and figure it out?

If vitaras wont work, any set of 75mm forged pistons should go well with those rods and make for a reliable forged D15 bottom.

Im gonna try to give em a call monday. How do you know i will have to notch the block? This is my first ground up motot build so this is all a bit new to me. You wouldnt happen to know what the d15 and D16 journal sizes are??

I was gonna use a Z6 head so my compression is gonna go up a lil anyway, but i found a set of forged D15 pistons made by KMS and i believe the ratio for those is 9.0:1
