Default Need Opinions : Turbo setup

This setup is going on a stock 94 ls motor. Planning on getting all parts before spring hits.

Garret gt28rs turbo
hks Cast Iron - Turbo Exhaust Manifold (17141-139387)
hks ssqv
hks type-1 turbo timer
apexi avcr
jhonnyracecar 6in intercooler
thermal r&d 3in catback turbo exhaust, thermal high flow cat.
rc 550cc injectors
walbro 255 fuel pump
act hdss clutch kit
autometer gauges (nexus series if they come out soon) boost, egt, oil pressure.

What do you guys think?
Am i missing anything?

need some advice on a downpipe? Any companies make em for the turbo im using? or woudl i be better off custom fabbing one?

Intercooler piping, oil lines, and engine management. I would go for a custom DP.

I would say so, although I dont know much about that turbo, everything else looks good.

I would get different gauges though, Autometer is garbage.

Good setup.
The turbo should be fine for your goals. I'm going with the same turbo.

There is a guy in Forced induction Classified who is selling one for a grand shipped btw. Which is a good price.

I dont mean to bash, but that's alot of money for a turbo, make sure it's worth the extra money.

the gt28rs is worth every penny, spools faster than the gt3071 and made more power, just look at boosted_hybrids dyno comparison

Where can i get a flange that looks like this one? So i dont have to worry about the extra hole for the internal wastegate.

Also do you guys think that the clutch will hold up? or should i upgrade that to a hevy xtreme pressure plate?

Is aluminum better for a dp or should i have a ss steel or just steel one made? Or does it just not matter.

well, aluminum melts at 1220 degrees farenheit so that would be a bad choice. its reall personal preference as to which you choose, although ss is ligheter but costs a little more

Wow...everyone is jumpingon the GT28RS bandwagon....
As soon as a dyno number is put up, and a video put out by tony the tiger, everyone wants one....
I mean, it put up some good numbers, but for $1399.00 new and its internally gated, i dunno

Looks like you been threw tony the tigers post, you have the same exhaust manifold and turbo

boosted_hybrid also did a dyno and video comparison of the st28rs vs. the gt3071, the gt28rs beat the 3071 in every respect. you can find the t-25 flanged gt28rs on ebay for like 950 bucks + shipping

I had my turbo setup all picked out before i even found out about the bandwagon. Even so, i wouldn't want a turbo that noone has so then i cant get any support for it. Its hard enough finding info on it now. someone needs to start making d/p for this turbo.

Sorry, I had my Gt2871r before Boosted Hybrids post and even Tony the Tigers post. The Disco Potato has been out for a while now, no one here even considered it cause the BIG TURBO fad was so popular.

I bought mine cause i'll be running a D-series block. Cause of the lower displacement and my power goal is 300 this turbo is great for it. I say pick a turbo which meets your goals, who gives a f**k about bandwagons.
And I didn't pay 1399.00 and it has a t3 housing so I can have it externally gated.

if you send me your turbine housing and turbo i can custom fab you a downpipe. since that flange is wier dand the setup is wierd. its gonna be 225 for a 2.5 inch DP. 40$ extra for flex pipe. and 25$ extra to ship everything back. might be cheaper to get it made locally. WONT BE AC compatible i can tell you that.

i can get GT28RS's for a decent price. from atp with a t3t4 drop in. might hold a groupbuy for some soon.

another question, do i need 550 injectors or can i get by with 450's or maby 500?

Also debating on going aem ems instead of hondata. After doing some research, many ppl have isses with hondata and have switched over to an ems. Would also be fun to learn how to do the tuning myself on it.

As long as you'll be buying injectors anyway, go ahead for the 550's. They'll be good later if you decide to make over 300+. 450's are about tapped out at 300whp give or take 20.
