AT 8 psi i have:

idle 800-900 F
WOT : 1350 - 1450
cruising at 60 mph 1300 - 1350.

I will set my timing to 12 degree.

depends..where did u put the probe? in a runner or in the downpipe 3" away from the turbo outlet?

which is better? i would think runner but im noticing that autometer pyrometer kits come with a clamp that looks pretty big and appears to be made to fit around a 2.75" downpipe, not a 1.2" exhaust runner.

the reason u put the robe in the downpipe 3" away from the turbo is so incase u get a faulty probe or for some dumb reason it heats up to much it won't fall out of the runner and go through the turbo, and chew it up. then u say bye bye turbo. it is more exact in the runner...u just have to decide if u wanna take the risk of the probe falling out.

a lot of people have it like me and don't have any problem like you say.

And Autometer told in the intruction to put the probe at 2 in of the cylinder head. i'm at 3 in so it not to bad.

Do you think my setting ar good or not?

I think the idea is to find what temperature is ideal for your situation then try and keep it within that area. I mean it may 900* at point A but 800* at point B, but if on the dyno with the wideband, the engine is running the same with both readings, than thats what you go by.

Kinda like adjustable timing gears, it may be safe to say +2 here -1 there, but your results may vary.

ok thanks a lot,

I want to go on the dyno but i don't have time for now and i'm running with my car.

So i don't want to run to hot for the stock internal.

Do you think that 1400 is too hot at 60 mph???

EGTs are not solely a derivative of A/F mixture, it is also affected by ignition timing as well as alot of other factors. As a rule of thumb, you don't want to see anything higher than 1400-1450 under full boost/throttle on a turbo street car. The other major thing that will affect the temp is the probe location. Again the general rule is to position it no farther from the head than the diameter of the exhaust runner. In other words, if you have 1.5" exhaust primaries, position the probe no more than 1.5" from the end of the exhaust port on the head. Anything further than that will give you falsely "colder" readings which get worse the further out you go due primarilly to the heat dissapation from the manifold (mild steel and cast iron are the worst). I would recommend welding a bung in the proper location, or if you have a thick cast-type manifold just drill and tap a hole for the EGT fitting. That's the only way to get an accurate reading. Good luck.

for the probe location, i'm at 3 inch of the head so 1 to 1.5 in of the end of the runner.

An other question, i need to tune my timing to 12 degree. Right now, if i'm lower then 12 degree, my temperature will be higher or lower??

I don't know what setup you have, but retarding your static timing too much will affect your low end/throttle response, and too little ignition timing will result in an increase in EGTs. It really depends on the specific combination, but you should be OK with 12 degrees static if you have no other way to retard timing.

ok i will tell you my setup:

D16A6 with IHI RHB5 SET @ 8 psi.
SMC + with 450cc DSM injector,
FPR B&M set @ 42 psi.
A/F + EGT autometer and my setting is in my first post.

And i will set my timing at 12 degree.

So you tell me that if i'm lower than 12 degree, that will result of inscreasing the EGT temperature?

You really don't want to retard timing much more than that on the single cams, as they will turn into turds down low and at part throttle. The only increase you would likely see in EGT fron taking any more timing out would be at low rpms/not in boost. I would recommend Hondata or even Zdyne for boosted 4Gs, so the fuel and ignition can be fine tuned. You mostly want to be concerned with the full throttle numbers under boost, that's where most of the troubles will occur. Keep in mind that the Autometer analog gauge is pretty slow so the main thing is to be CONSERVATIVE with street car (pump gas) tuning. Watch for temp spikes or weird fluctuations in temps.

ok thanks a lot,

I will adjust the timing at 12 degree and check if i it's lower or can i send more fuel??? this will decrease the temperature ?
