need help on turbo sizing tdo5 18g as opposed to t3/t4
I have been doing some reasearch on this turbo and have not come up with a whole lot of info. there is lots about a 16g and a 20g. I want to know what this turbo is comparable in size to say a "T' series or a garret. I was looking for flow charts and have found none. Another question I had is how much power (ballpark) could a greddy kit with the type24 IC make on a b16 engine with rods pistons 440's and a hondata? is the 350 to 375 range achievable or no. I am looking to make a good amout of power with a "kit" but want to retain Airand power steering. I have been supercharged for 4 years now and its time to step up. thank you for all the replies!!!

anyone else???? how much power can the stock kit make with a boost controller? somebody told me that with a boost controller you could only achieve 15psi??? why would this be. they said because it was internally gated but in my mind that should not make a difference

Yes, 15 psi is about the max the 18g will hold (and also be at its max efficiency)since it has an internal wastegate. You could probably go higher, but I believe it will not hold that boost level throughout the entire rpm band. It will most likely drop back down to 15 psi near the top end. At 15 psi you can expect to make around 290-330 whp depending on your compression ratio.

It really depends. Although the drag kit makes more power, I have heard the quality of the kit is not necessarily the best. If you are more into drag racing, then I would lean more towards drag since it will flow more at the top than the 18g. But if you autox or roadrace, I would suggest getting the Greddy kit as it is more efficient (meaning less lag, faster spool).

The TD05 Mitsubishi Turbine Housing is a 8cm^2 size which makes it effiecient enough to flow up 25psi...The 18g Mitsubishi Compressor Housing is effiecient to just about 25psi, so its an excellent match for a motor that can make about 350HP to the wheels with proper fuel and timing control...
The Internal Wastegate is a very stiff design and I believe it opens at 14psi without a controller...
This turbo can also be upgraded/rebuilt with a 20g Housing and wheel for about $450 from Forced Performance...
Its an excellent turbo that is currently making WRX owner's smile across the country...Again, you need the fuel to match the intake Air...

now that is more along the lines of information that I wanted. Now will the stock greddy kit with its downpipe and a testpipe w/2.5" exhaust be able to sustain 350WHP. also will 440's support 350WHP I thought they toped out around 300

nope 440s won't cut it to ~3xx whp, I used ALL that my 550s could flow
to get 333whp on 18psi from an 18g on a B16a.

Jon,
I've got the Greddy manifold, 18G, and part of the Greddy downpipe on my car. It's alright for my setup with stock internals and low boost but I wouldn't put it on your car. Go for a bigger turbo with an external wastegate the first time or you'll end up wanting to upgrade..trust me.
If you REALLY want to know more about the Mitsu turbo though, talk to andy122 on streetcarforums since he's the DSM guru.
Are you coming to Bristol this weekend? Maybe I'll see ya up there.
Good luck and congrats on the decision to "step up".
