NEED HELP! how low should the drain be on the oil pan?

Default NEED HELP! how low should the drain be on the oil pan?

i've been working on my turbo on a 96 gsr and its time to tap the oil pan for the return. how high or low should it be or does it even matter??? let me kno please. this is my first turbo and i want it to be perfect.

Keep it as high as possible. You don't want it below the oil level in the pan since that can cause oil to back-up in the return line.

This is BS. You can run the fitting BELOW the oil level line.

The OP needs to learn how to search.

you can, however the return line will always be filled with oil if you do that.

i would put it around an inch below the top of the pan. also try and position it between 2 bolts, to avoid the fitting from preventing you to tighten a bolt on the pan
