14mm allen wrench or allen sockets. They are tough to remove sometimes, they have some type of sealant/thread lock from factory.

I plan on "double nutting" a bolt with a head to fit the hex opening. I hope that makes sense. I haven't done it yet, but it will be part of my build also.

Re: need help with crankcase fittings removal
Dont do it... They are giving you the size of socket for a 1/2in drive that you will need to buy. one socket can be affordable,, trying to get fittings out after hacking up threads can get expensive and time consuming. You have time to do it right the first time.

Alright, I guess I'll go get a 1/2 drive 14mm and use my impact to get it out. I just figured the bolt would do just fine. I used the same setup to break loose a swingarm bolt from my old bike. It was on there really tight too, but as long as the nuts are together, then it came out without much problem

Actually, just went and found one here at work that should work. I measured it, and it measures out to 14mm. We even have a cheater bar already on it too. LOL

Those are plugged ports that are in the block for oil drainback from the head. If you open them up and put a nipple on them, then you can run a hose from there to your catch can. This will give you good crankcase ventilation.

Only way i got mine out was to weld some old lug nuts on to em to spin em out. The metal was soft enough it was rounding out the hole using a 14mm allen socket. But mine was an old a$$ B18a1 that was AEBS sleeved.

Are you saying you would use those for a closed loop style catch can instead of tapping another hole in the oil pan for the oil to drain back down into motor?
Or since that is a drain back from the head you can hook those directly to a catch can to vent off the pressure? Would you do this VS welding fittings into the valve cover or both at the same time? Just a little confused and need this info eventually.

You can buy the sockets from Autozone for $9.99. A 12mm, 14mm, and 17mm hex-bit sockets are included. But, they're cheap as hell and will probably start falling apart after a few uses.

Did mine last night with the 14mm allen wrench and cheater bar. Took a little bit of muscle, but as soon as they cracked they were coming without much hassle. Installed my new plugs and I'm ready for ventilation now!!
