Default need advice on turbo kits/turbo's

okay so let me start off by telling what i want to know, should i buy a turbo kit or piece one together? Also this will be my first turbo build so what sized trim turbo should i go with, and What are some little things to get that help in the future? (i.e Boost controller, oil pressure gauge)

my motor already has.. Low compression wiseco pistons, corrilo rods, arp headstuds, cometic hg, skunk2 cams/gears, skunk2 intake mani, aem fuel rail/regulater, koyo radiator, samco hoses, fadanza lightened flywheel, stage two clutch and maybe a couple things im missing (I,H,E) and its a ls tranny and b18b with b16 head.

Thats a nice engine setup for only wanting 270whp....

You could put a t3/t4 .60/.63 57 trim KIT on it and make that kind of power all day. Tryin to piece one together may be harder for you if this is your first turbo setup. Just order a kit this time.

Very few use this logic. Just because it is turbocharged doesn't mean the most hp is needed, or desired. It's about the use of the project, not just power

EXACTLY! i just want a fast car but nothing that has rediculous power that has something wrong with it. And im just threw a ballpark guess when i said 275. I'd want to keep the boost under like 10psi cause i would like it to last haha i mean it would on more but i dont make enough money to keep up with it if everything starts breaking ha what are good kits to look for? i really like the one speedfactory makes for only 2600, and then i'd get like 750cc dsm injectors maybe and a 255hp walbro is that good?

I see that you are in Washington State, have you had a chance to check out our kits in person? If not please stop by the shop and I can show you all the options that we have or let me know what other questions you have. Thanks!

there are plenty of guys that run crazy numbers and do not break a single thing. its how you take care and drive the car. its not to bad to piece together a turbo kit. just look around at different places such as spoolin performance, fullrace, peakboost, etc. the advantages are that you get to pick what you want to run and how you want your car to react, like do you want full pressure at 3500rpm or 6000,do you want an assload of midrange or pure top end power. these are things you need to ask yourself in order to choose whats best for you.

If you decide to piece together your own setup, don't cheap out on key components... that's how **** breaks.

Good companies:
Spoolin performance
RC Autoworks
Full-race
Go Autoworks
Turbonetics
Garrett
Precision
Tial
HKS

Well at 275 with that bottom end you prolly won't have to worry about your motor crapping out anytime soon. But if I were you I would get a turbo that will support a higher power goal if you decide to crank it up for a track day or something. Maybe something along the lines of a 60 trim so you should still have pretty good spool time but room to put some power to the ground if you decide to later. But if 275 is seriously all you'll ever want go with a lil smaller.the quick spool will make the midrange fun to drive
