Need Advice on Building D16Z6
Ok, I have a D16Z6 siting at my shop that had a stripped crank pulley bolt. so it needs a new crankshaft. But I'm thinking of building that engine on the side for boost. I need Advice on what to do to it first after stripping it.
Its either this or Buying a B16A And building on it.

Re: Need Advice on Building D16Z6
Well, The budget really don't matter because its gonna be on the side build and slowly built. I already have my DD and its a mini me and it makes me wanna build and turbo a single. but the same time why not a b16 or GSR?
This is going into a 92 EG Sedan. And I would like to see the low 12's.

a built d16 can get you in the 10/11's... the only reason to go d series is cost. you can have a fully built d16 for the price of a stock dohc swap. If you build the dohc and something happens to it, is gonna cost a ton to fix or redo it as compared to the d series. same goes for the tranny.

Well they are for the most part. But with the vitara's they have such a large dish and the wrist pin is a little lower if Im not mistaken as well. So FJT decided to make custom length rods to get the pistons to zero deck for better compression. But to be honest either will work.

Re: Need Advice on Building D16Z6
If you use vitara pistons I would suggest you use the ftj rods over the eagle rods for the added compression. Eagle rods do not allow the vitara pistons come all the way up to the top of the cylinder because the rod is too short. Running this setup will net very low compression I believe it's less than 8:1 but correct me if im wrong. However I have heard alot of people loving their vitara/eagle combo. The combo has def proved itself multiple times.

lets see...in the 92-00 forum you would post 3 or 4 new topics dailey on the same topic...when people would give u advice you would still tell them that you were gonna do it a different way no matter how many people told you not to do it that way... your one of the main reason i stopped going to the 92-00 forum
