mystery motor problem, somebody help me......
Okay, last week i posted about my motor sounding funny, kinda like a machine gun and a little black smoke coming from the pcv breather. It was suggested that i had blowby and to do a compression test. Compression test results were perfect, 200 across the board, on previous tests i had a little higher compression, but either way 200 all around made me happy. So, i replaced all 4 plugs and looked at the old ones. They are all black and the #3 cylinder had some greenish tint to it, i know that means something, what is it? After i replaced the plugs i went for a drive and the sound was still there. What could this be? Keep in mind, everything else seems perfect, oil psi, water temp, in boost it pulls normally (except for the damn noise). I need help here, thanks for any suggestions.

now that i think of it, it did have that sugary coolant smell under the hood and the boot(?) on the#3 plug wire had a little bit of moisture on it, but i couldn't tell what it was. Keep the suggestions coming, what the heck is going on here?

ttt, help me out, i need it.
BTW, i checked the coolant and everything was fine in regards to that. Could this be a head gasket, crack in the block, what the hell is wrong?

Locate the source of this "machine gun noise" try to see if its coming from the cylinder head area of from the bottom end area then we go from there
Heres a tip...if its a metal to metal noise (tapping, clunking etc) get yourself one of those mechanics stethoscopes or a really really long screw driver then touch the the tip of the screw driver on the suspected area and place your ear on the end of the handle then that will help a little.

it sounds to me like the head, the problem is that at idle it doesn't make the noise, or not nearly as much as it does in gear. Even if you rev it in neutral, the noise is not very audible. Does anyone have any help for me?

drain and strain your oil with a black or blue cloth. Look for brass colored metal pieces. If you find none, inspect the valve train and adjust your valves when the motor is cold. Those would be the two things i would look for.

yeah you might need a valve adjustment, i've heard that noise on bigger displacement cars (i'm sure we all have ... that chicka chicka chicka noise) i believe that means you should adjust your valves... don't quote me though.
