Icon2 Mystery compressor surge, experts chime in!

I've done everything under the sun to get rid of my surge, yet it still lingers.

First, I have a legit greddy and a knock off greddy, both produce compressor surge even at the softest setting, I've tried every setting you can do. (the valve does open a lil but with little bits of reving)

I connected to the brake booster, no change. The PCV port on the intake manifold, nothing. Moved the BOV from before the TB to inbetween the turbo and IC, NOTHING!!!!!!! Boost gauge reads constant -20 at idle.

Hoses are brand new, just inspected them for tares/cuts

My old thread for more info

donno what to tell you on how to fix the problem, but i have read many threads and seen first hand that greddy bov's do have surging issues. maybe you should look into another bov?

maybe someone else can chime in.

its not a "surge" issue. People tend to confuse actual compressor surge with simple BOV flutter from low boost pressure, (such as just over vacuum). I still think the OP needs to get a video of the turbo under some engine load to confirm that its true compressor surge (usually comes after the valve pops off slightly) before going through the expense and time of changing BOVs.

here U go Shodan. This is with the BOV next to the TB, and the surge came from the other side, where the turbo is. I have not tested the NEW bov on the throttle body side, but it shouldnt matter cause i'm still fluttering with both blow off valves.

I also hooked up another vac line to see if it would do anything, but nothing changed.

Yeah I can hear no compressor surge in those vid. I do here the BOV hiss. I also had a Greddy Type S and a Type RS they will flutter a bit under lower boost as Shodan said.
My MK3 Supra had compressor surge from the stock bypass valve dieing and the best way to describe it is a sick dieing dog barking.

Adding 2 vacuum lines will do nothing. Vacuum is vacuum. T-ing into the FPR line is how most do it and that works well. Also moving the BOV also really will have no effect on surge.

I would find a better stronger vacuum line itself. make sure it isn't collapsing

Second, I'd find a better source, as it seems as though the valve is barely opening. Go from some source off the brake booster or IM, and not the gate or somewhere PRE-turbo.

But in either video, its not compressor surge. In fact, the first video shows no vacuum. The engine must be under load (which you showed in the second video), but its still not compressor surge. the valve just isn't opening

Changing locations doesn't help you either.

That is the sound of the Greddy BOV. Your compressor is not surging. Like I said it sounds kind of like a sick dieing dog barking.

Yeah its probably just the bov and fairly low boost causing it to flutter. If the vaccum line isn't collapsing then it should be fine. Just the way it sounds. If you wanna go with a quality bov and don't like the fluttering go with a synapse bov. They are close to 200 dollars but are totally worth it imo. They are probably the best bov to get rid of the fluttering and have a super quick response

I saw that video. Before I know I had true compressor surge, I'm happy to see all the replies, thanks guys.

Can anyone hear a boost leak?
