Are my rings going soft?
I have an o2 civic with a D17A2 boosted on 8psi. it been running fine and last time i checked about 2 weeks ago I had 160 compression across the board. the honda manual says 150-170 is within spec. I just hit 100k miles last week and I noticed that when I let my car idle for a long period of time that the exhaust will give off white smoke (oil) and some smoke will come from inside the engine bay. My guess is that at idle since there is not enough compression and spark going on that the fuel is leaking past the rings or the oil is coming up. It never does it when I drive or come to a stop. only when at idle for over like 8min. any ideas?

why are you idling for 8 minutes? A study has been done and I think it was like anything over 1 minute or 1.5 minutes you're better off to turn it off and then back on to save gas.

Re: (igo4bmx)
well there are times that I have been waiting for someone and been in the car for a while with the ac on cause miami is hot as hell right now. thats the only time it does it. and im sure it's not coolant. I know the smell well and it smells more like oil.
