My first set of sleeves and they sank!!!!!!!!!!
We are a Glden Eagle dealer but do not do much with them anymore due to the first shortblock they assembled was less than spectacular. So I try a different comapny who does not actually advertise thier capabilities. They use AEBS sleeves and I sent them my b16 block. The build was a lot more work than I had anticipated and was informed, but nothing we can't handle. After 700 flawless miles and 10 psi the motor feelt way strong and I was very satisfied. Go to the track and begin to turn the boost up and tune the car, (dyno was booked), for the event the next day. Ok at 14 psi but once we hit 17-20 the car started filling the overflow up. I know what that means. Bad gasket at least.
Fast forward to the next day. We retorque the head to more ft lbs ,80 to be exact,
and limp it through the event. We actually did ok, came in secont in the street racer class with a 12.30@122 on 14 psi on 205/45r16 nitto 555r in a full weight gsr chassis on hondata.
Contact the shop that did the sleeveing and whom we get all of our import internals from. They assured me the sleeves did not sink, (although this was what I was suspecting). Pull the head off tonight after the new gasket arrives and guess what. The #1 is fine #2,3 are down .001 or so, and the #4 is down .0025-.003 and the head clearly shows where the compression was going.
I am in confidence they will take care of us on this and hope to continue using thier services for years to come. On the other hand I guess I will have to find another distributor, learn from my mistake and move on.
I am slowly regreting not going Benson on this block. Just glad this was not a customers motor!!!!!!!!

i dont see how your AEBS's only sank different depths on the different cylinders , my aebs sleeves are a solid closed deck design

It's impossible to expect a perfect block 100% of the time from any company. I've seen pictures of a couple Benson blocks that had problems a year or two ago. The important factor is how much they are willing to work with you to fix the problem...

I am looking at a Benson C5 block that all 4 sleeves sank...its been sitting in my room for 2 years. Machine work was horrible on this block. you just take your chances when you switch to sleeving.
I am now running a GE C5 that has lasted for over a year.

Re: My first set of sleeves and they sank!!!!!!!!!! (99blackcivicSi)
hmm well to avoid this problem it seems like you would want them connected instead of being individual right? im new to sleeves but what are some solid sleeves that are connected and since getting rid of the sinking problem what are some common problems associated with connected ones?

I hope that **** dont happen. my car has been down for 3 months now due to stock motor letting go. This build has broken my pockets.. what all did you have to replace on your motor when that happen? just sleeves and bearings?

Re: (G"UNIT)
when i sleeved my block i did new everything....
but when you sink a sleeve , im asuming new headgasket , thats pretty much the only must replace item , cause if your sleeving a block , you will have arp studs which are resusable

Re: (Hella_JDM)
i spent $1200 and bought a darton sleeved gsr block from cheapturbo, the sleeves went to **** almost immediately(water began leaking at the base of them directly into my oil)when i sent them an email they wouldn't even respond ...now that i saved up enough money im sending out my new block to earl for a bensons sleeve job
