Default My experiances with my Starion IC

Just for info, my JBwelded starion IC only had a pressure drop of less than 1psi. I went from 9psi to a little over 8psi (2" piping). That is with my wastegate signal coming from before the IC, so everything was static.

The thing is, I already had my piping run around the front of my car beforehand, and once i did the IC i just dropped it into place. I have heard a few people badmouth these and just wanted to put in my thoughts. I think most people who install an IC dont dont take into account the extra piping you are gonna be adding, which was already in place on my setup.
If your considering one, i say go for it. Best IC available for the little bit of money.

Awesome, I have the same IC! Haven't installed it though, still getting the bits and pieces of the turbo together.

Damn I shouldn't have sold it to you. Now I still dont have my intercooler yet. And my wastegate is suppose to be on it's way. The beast will be a wake soon. Watch out ben.

Yea I love the way my starion that comes with the revhard looks, only thing I would change is make the end tanks complete rectangles rather then sloped half way up like it is... but hey it works well :D

250 is not expensive for a intercooler of that size. its actually a pretty fair deal.

Yeah, $250 is not bad at all.
But do not underestimate JB weld. It has extremly high pressure ratings for what it is, and as long as the area is prepped and clean it will likely last as long as the intercooler.

so basically if u route ur pipes like homemadeturbo, u won't be able to use the foglights, well, then it saves me more money ! hehe

What yr/make/model does the starion ic come from. It's so cheap, I'm tempted to make a custom FMIC. Anyone know a good place to get them for cheap?

I heard the newer Starion/Conquests had the better FMIC. I believe it was the 88-89 year, or somewhere around there.

Remember, they come with SMALL inlet/outlets. You'll have to cut off the stock pipings and cap them. Then weld in a bigger 2.25" inlet/outlet on the ends to fit your car.

Bryson - why did you have the pipes welded onto the endtanks at the "narrow" end? If you look at your pic vs the other Starion pic in this thread, yours is "upside-down" in a sense. From a flow perspective, this would discourage the charge air from diffusing through all the IC tubes and make it more inclined to force it all through the bottom rows. Just curious if you had any reason that you did it this way or if that was just a random choice.

It was pretty much a random choice, but the pipe is 2.5" diameter.

The Part where the pipes are welded on, is the same Width as the widest part of the intercooler. Granted it's not at the top, where there would be the best efficency, but hey, there's always a price to pay for custom job's.
