my ek9 turbo build
hi,
This is my 99 EK9, as some of you may notice from the pics im from the UK.
engine:
b16a
darton sleeved
block brace
je pistons
eagle rods
(I am aware the block needs some work to the welding)
i will be using b16b complete head
t3/t4 57 trim turbo
tial wastegate
2.5" downpipe
Apexi gt spec 2.5" exhaust
hondata s200
RC 440's i think i will need bigger for the power tho
walbro 255
i will also be using the EK9 LSD gearbox...well until it breaks lol
im aiming for 350 bhp, im hoping i can achieve this on 15psi and 99 ron fuel

Half of your setup is really nice, but the other half kind of sucks to be brutally honest. You have an awesome block, but i would have opted for Pauter rods instead of Eagles. After that, the turbo choice is fine, but the injectors , the DP and exhaust are all too small. If i had my choice, i would have opted for the following:
-Borg Warner S256
-3" dp and exhaust
-880cc injectors
Other than my little criticisms, it looks like a great setup and should produce the power you're shooting for...by the way, the car is gorgeous

I agree, with a motor setup like that...go big. 440's will not be enough. but otherwise sick looking car and setup.

Re: my ek9 turbo build (Dave_yd)
like everyone esle said, the turbo is fine for your goals but u will need to get bigger injectors. 750s are what i would run. aso i'd go with 3'dp and exhaust like Schister mentioned.

cheers for the advice lads,
borg warner turbos are unheard of in the UK, are they good?
also can anyone point me in the direction of a good turbo exhuast...because there is nothing like that in uk either it would have to be custom which is loads of £££
what sort of power are 440's good for?

Borg Warner turbos are great and are really starting to catch on as a practical alternative to the Garrett GT-R series. There are several people who sell them on HT including Turbodano, TheShodan and TTT.
As for the injectors...when figuring out injector sizing, i generally suggest using 6cc per whp. This formula gives you a good idea of what size you'll need to make the power you desire. For your 440cc injectors, the equation works as follows:
440cc x 4 injectors = 1840cc total
1840cc / 6 = 306.67whp with a 75-85% duty cycle.
That is about the furthest you can safely push them; however, many a person has gone further. Although, with today's availability of cheap, larger injectors, there's no reason to skimp. I would suggest upgrading to either a 750cc or 880cc so that you have room to grow in the future.

wow beautiful car, good luck with your build. I love it over in the UK, its a bit expensive though.
deffinately get 3in exhaust and some 750cc atleast. your exhaust will probably have to be modified somewhat by some sort of local shop or welder for it to fit right due to all the different manifolds and turbos out there. good luck

440cc injectors will be fine for his 350bhp goal as this equates to around 300whp.
What are you going to be usiong the car for?
Track days?
Sprints?
Because with 300whp in a EK9 Chassis you are going to destroy most things on track so long as your braking and suspension set ups match your power.

Re: (93supercoupe)
that block is good for some good hp why half *** it at 350hp?
500 is easy to do especially with your setup.
bigger turbo
injectors
and a bigger exhuast
just like 93supercoupe said.
lets see some #'s

just a little update,
car is being mapped at the end of July
i have listened to some of the comments on here and decided i want to try and push a bit more power,
so im going to use 1000cc injectors
a "sliver surfer" turbo
3" downpipe
competition clutch stage 4
cant wait to see what it does

Good to see more people flying the flag for boosted Hondas in the UK
My ITR is coming along nicely, I have a darton MID sleeved b18c @ 84mm. Going for similar power to you initially.
