My CFM Flow Rate of my Turbo ?
Can someone tell me the CFM Flow rate of my Turbo..
Its a Turbonetics T3/T04E Ball Bearing 60 Trim. Stage 3 Turbine, .82 Compressor housing, .60a/r Turbine housing...help would be appriciated...

Re: My CFM Flow Rate of my Turbo ? (C-Redrum)
I dont know if this is what you're looking for but here's the equation for CFM under boost...
airflow rate = pressure ratio x basic engine cfm
pressure ratio = 14.7 + boost / 14.7
basic engine cfm = cid x rpm x 0.5 x volumetric efficiency / 1728
Formulas courtesy of Maximum Boost.

hmmm..im just trying to figure out if my intercooler would be efficient enough. It says on Spearcos website that the flow rate is 640....So im not finding out much information here...

no, that is the flow rate of the intercooler...It says that is the maximum flow rate that boost pressure will only drop 1.5psi, it will flow more, but boost pressure will also drop more...

so i need to find the Cubic Feet Per Minute Flow of the Turbocharger, to compare it to the 640 CFM of the IC

Re: My CFM Flow Rate of my Turbo ? (C-Redrum)
So let's say you're boosting 15psi. Your pressure ratio will then be 14.7+15/14.7 = 2.02...
Airflow rate of your engine (assuming its the 2.2L in your sig) = 133.5cid x 6000rpm (random #) x 0.5 x .85 (random # for Ve) / 1728
Airflow = 197cfm
With boost...
Total airflow = 2.02 x 197 = 397.94 cfm
So with those numbers your only boosting 400cfm...does that mean that intercooler will be sufficient? Or am I way off base?

Re: My CFM Flow Rate of my Turbo ? (C-Redrum)
With those numbers it comes out to 707 cfm but keep in mind I only guessed at the volumetric efficiency of 85%. If you increase the VE then your CFM will increase...
Edit** I sure wish someone smart would read this and tell me if I'm going at this all wrong...

Re: My CFM Flow Rate of my Turbo ? (C-Redrum)
i see. so i guess that intercooler is efficient enough for 15-20psi but beyond that it probably wont be....
