My B16 Turbo Build w/ Pics, Updates & Questions!!
Hello all, this is the start of my b16 turbo build. I am still acquiring the parts for this build but so far here are the details:
TD05h turbo from a talon 14b t25 I believe (please correct if I am wrong)
No name cast iron manifold
My vehicle:
99 EM1 b16a2
A/C and PWR steering
I am planning on leaving the internals stock. I am hoping for 200 - 250whp. I just had a few questions:
Will those numbers be realistic with 7-10 psi of boost?
Is the stock fuel system adequate to support that boost?
How should I weld down the wastegate flapper?
Which hole is which when it comes to water and oil cooling?
Please give me your thoughts and opinions for the turbo and engine. Thanks.

Do yourself a favor and sell that and get a real turbo for the car. If you are already trying to cut costs by getting a cheap turbo you are in a world of hurt.
I've been down this road, and it wasn't worth the hassle imo. You can get good used parts that will by far better meet your needs.

Definitely get a different turbo. I would rather run an ebay 50 trim than something with bolt patterns and such that are not very common. As for the boost, dont get caught up on the psi you want to run. 300whp with a b16 is safe and will be very easy to reach if you have a decent turbo and supporting parts. Remember, boost pressure isnt what will blow your engine, the power that it makes is what will.

But the thing is the turbo is welded onto the manifold. I wanted the small turbo for quick spooling and low end torque for lick-it-ee splits when you mash it. Even if this thing does max out boost pressure at 6000+ RPM, the boost pressure that it provides should be more than sufficient for my goals in mind. I am not looking to run more than 9 or 10 psi. I am also looking to keep power steering and A/C, so I feel a bigger turbo will not fit in the already crammed space.
So, the stock b16 pump and injectors are not capable or running that setup?
Which holes are which, and would I be able to run the turbo on oil only? (plug water)
Thanks for the input

i would never run a stock fuel pump and injectors on a turbo set up when each are 100$ or less thats just plane stupied. IF you dont have the money to buy those really cheap parts honestly you should rethink going boost because it will cost some good money to have this run good. So honestly think about the money you have to spend if its not enough rite now save up and get one part at a time. In the long run good parts will make a diffrance!

Alright, I'll add that onto the list. I just got an intercooler from a VW, i'll post pics in a few days.
also, can i run the turbo without hooking up the coolant?
which holes are for oil and which for coolant?
thanks.

Also you were asking about welding up the wastgate flapper.Thats is what controls your boost its a internal wastgate.
