Default My 400whp D-series BOOM... carnage pics

Don't believe I ever posted the dyno sheet so here it is.

brief rundown of the setup

D16Z6
Benson sleeved
SC61
Cp 9:1
Crower rods
1000cc Precision injectors
Hondata
Crower springs and retainers
Zex 59300 cam
etc
etc

Setup lasted 900 miles and a few passes at the track. On the 2 step in my driveway trying to solve an electrical problem this happened......

This all happened a few months ago, just never got around to posting it. We think that 2 of the valves touched. This may have been caused by valve float or spring rate/pressure failure. Possiblity that it may have been a cam but the lobes on #4 cyl look good. Haven't really messed with the junk head lately. Sold some stuff off the old setup and building a new one, still sohc

Why? The 2 step didn't cause that. ^^^

Impressive Tq. Number out of that SOHC as well

The valves chunked on pump gas, about 4psi @ 7.2k.

Also contact with each other, but that's rare with stock sized valves.

Like GITWIDIT said, it could possibly have been a spring rate failure or valve failure.

ACK!
dang man that sucks,

did it die like that on a good tune?

I guess if 2 valves dropped it musta been something valvetrain related?
You dont' think detonation had a part to it?
What do you mean by "2step" ?
Man I really wanna know wtf happened.

400whp though.. wow.

"2 step" as in rev limiter.

Very nice numbers out of the D.

1.7L time

At first it was the 400hp that hooked me, then to see the powerband lasts over 2k rpm...

I mean were you running pump gas when you made 400whp on the dyno.

Oh and glad to see your sticking with the sohc.
