My $6 Manual Boost Controller.....(Home Depot)
Well...I finally made another MBC courtesy of http://www.c-speedracing.com. I've always wanted to do it but I was always too lazy since I had a GReddy MBC but now it's broken. Anyways, here is a site that shows you step-by-step on how to do it. I'm sure some of you know that this is yesterdays' news but for the new darkside people here it is....
http://www.c-speedracing.com/howto/mbc/mbc.php
Not my motor, nor my hands, but it looks exacty like it...
Pics are courtesy from http://www.c-speedracing.com
It's "suppose" to cost $4 but Home Depot only sells the fittings in pairs, thus 2 MBC's that I can make. Hehe. So it's not that bad. I paid $6 all together. Works great but I got a few questions....
It boosted really great...From .5 BAR to .8 BAR and I'm too lazy to calculate the PSI but I'm guessing on the top of my head around 10-12 PSI'ish... Pulls great but the BOV sounds like ****. Sound's like it's way too tight and not letting any air out. Compressor Surge coming along maybe? Anyways, I'm suppose to adjust the BOV again correct? I'm pretty positive but I just want to make sure...
-ThankS...

gotta be careful with those homemade mbc's. They tend to stick open and cause overboosts.
definitely be careful with them.

Yep, I made one once and could just never get it to set right.......probably needed a different spring........too inconsistent.

it seems like if the spring was a tad thicker and was as wide as the inside of the fittings, so it was snug up aginst the walls it would work pretty well......I bet the boost creep has something to do with that spring being sideways when you tighten the thing down

actually, I got a thicker spring cause I thought the same...That small spring will eventually weaken and cause it to bend sideways...and that's a NO NO...But over all, mines is working great....I like it. Ofcourse my GReddy MBC was better, but it was broken...and I couldn't find a similar regualtor at home depot.

Hmmm, yeah, i think i might just have to do this over Winter Break. so EVERYTHING is available at Home Depot? even the ball bearing? Does Home Depot also sell the vacuum hoses? because if i do the homemade MBC, i want to lengthen the hose from the WG to the turbo since it's just barely long enough. i don't want the MBC sitting that close to the turbo.
i've seen this article, too but have also been a little lazy.

the only thing i dont like about that spring one is that u cant regulate it.
i mean u can buy regulators for small airbrushes.
