Re: MSD distributor (B18c1turboedEK)
^^^ That's false info.
There is nothing wrong with it. If there is a problem send it back to MSD and they will take care of it. |
Re: MSD distributor (tepid1)
My buddy runs one and it has held up in a heat soaked supercharged engine bay. I dont think they blow out as easy as the boxes do.

working great thus far. has a nice signal too.

^^^ https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emthdown.gif explain your self better http://images.honda-tech.com/set1//smile/emcrook.gif , I don't think MSD will make a new product that bad, they always have a great quality on their products |
Re: MSD distributor (1fastEK9)
I have seem more that 4 of them go bad. From fallen apart to going bad. Make sure you take it apart and lock tight everything. The good thing is that MSD fixes them for free.

im sure tony palo will chime in, i know he's had some experience with these msd dizzy's

Re: (quicksilver1689)
I've never used one, but i've sold cam triggers to quite a few people who have had the MSD dist. fail. lol
|
I have the MSD Dizzy it works great, BUT, I'd def open it up and tighten the two phillips screws to hold the rotor on, and same with the cap. I had one bolt on the cap completely fall off. and both rotro screws came loose but didn't fall out. I have sicne loctite them on and they are all good now... other then that.. (Y). But the fact that they use OBD2 plgus on the OBD1 dizzy is weird. had to repin my harness for OBD2 plug. Now if my dzzy ever takes a shit. I'm stuck to get the same dizzy, or repin my harness or stock dizzy for the time being.

Re: (Tchleung)
they work good when they work and if you can keep em from falling apart
id say a little more than 50% we end up sending back. |

I am one of those few, MSD distributor just failed at the track would make thecar break up bad, I have since installed a T1 trigger. Dynoing soon VERY SOON https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by JDogg »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">they work good when they work and if you can keep em from falling apart id say a little more than 50% we end up sending back.</TD></TR></TABLE> Yep When they work they work awesome and MSD is great about Warrantying them BUT who wants to deal with a warranty so often. Mine went bad after 2-3 track events https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emsad.gif |
I have had 2 dizzy's fall apart from shitty workmanship and the igniter say holla, so far the coil and the wires have held.

Re: (vaporboy12)
pretty much this MSD distributor are a 50/50 gamble, I think is not worth paying $200 to $300 for one of them
|
OEM FTW! or swing for one of tony's cam pickups/triggers.
